Are you using Shopify? YouTube announces integration with the eCommerce giant

YouTube just forged a new partnership with Shopify, and will enable Shopify merchants to feature their products across their YouTube channels and content.


Using the Google Channel app within your Shopify add-on tools, you'll now be able to activate YouTube Shopping, and connect your YouTube account to easily display products from your Shopify inventory.

YouTube explains:

"Creators who link their stores can display their products across their channel and benefit from Shopify's real-time inventory syncing, so that viewers are never disappointed to find a product out of stock. And, for a more seamless shopping experience, creators in the US can enable onsite checkout so that viewers can complete their purchases without leaving YouTube."
Shopify merchants will be able to display their products on YouTube in three ways:
  • Live streams - Merchants can tag and pin products at key points during a livestream, and picture-in-picture playback means consumers can watch while they check out
  • Videos - Merchants can show a curated list of products in a product shelf below on-demand videos
  • Store tab - A new tab will be added to a merchant's YouTube channel, featuring their entire selection of products

    Hi

    Haven't heard about the integration between Shopify and Youtube, but my company has developed a specific software app as an integration with Shopify, too. So, it seems the platform is practising such an approach.

    My first thought is, Who shops on youtube? But then again. I thought that about Instagram and it has become one of my biggest sales channels haha.

    An amazing trend we are witnessing. Soon you'll be able to shop anywhere and at anytime.

        Haha, It's all good.

        Considering the number of channels I see that sell merchandise, courses or "donations". They are just streamlining the process.

        I am always reminded. The goal is to keep you on the platform as long as possible.

      I surprised the heck out of myself about 5 months ago when, after a lifetime of ignoring ads on YouTube, I clicked on one. Ended up not buying.


      Then, I clicked on 2 or 3 more in the last 6 months. Last time I bought.


      So, at this moment in time, YouTube's made $3 by catering to my tastes, or almost 18 cents/year. But it looks like the numbers are improving.


      Who knows, by the end of next year, my yearly contributions to YouTube's owners deep pockets could be in the tens of dollars! And, then, there's nothing but a slippery slope from my bank account to YouTube's.

    On the one hand, it may be useful to someone and sounds good, but it seems too commercial and goes into the negative for YouTube. I've been watching YouTube for a very long time, and it's become a vacation spot or something, but now it's turning into a shopping mall.

    Hmm, that's an interesting cooperation. I think youtube is not really a platform wich assotiates with shopping in my head, but it is still pretty useful for shopify.
