I'm trying to post this as delicately as possible, as it seems my past posts about it have broken rules...

I have a friend who is looking to purchase an ebay store. He has some very specific specs for this store, and he is having trouble finding anything that fits.

I am only posting here to get an idea of where I can point him. I am not trying to sell nor buy anything, and I'm certainly not spamming anything.

If anyone has any info for me to pass along, I would be grateful.
I would appreciate any help.

Thanks!

You might need to clarify this. According to eBay's terms you aren't allowed to sell or transfer an account. How does your friend intend to buy a store without also acquiring the associated eBay account?

I didn't know that - but seems your friend has not done the basic research yet.

On the ebay community site ' can I sell my ebay store' was answered with this:

Your eBay account has value when you develop a strong feedback rating and satisfy your customers. Feedback is intended to reflect a seller's performance, so we don't allow accounts to be transferred or sold.

Attempting to sell an eBay account may result in buying and selling restrictions as well as account suspension or removal.

Not really the help you were hoping for - but might save your friend a lot of time and money....

Maybe direct your friend to these excellent threads - so he can start his own successful store?

specs for the store? im confused here...of ALL the platforms "the Store" is the least important on eBay. You cant search a store name...

So are we talking aesthetic specs?

Is there a reason he cant just create what he wants? Im confused here.

k so let me step back a moment here, did your friend get banned? the minute you change bank accounts it would be over...

again really confused with this one

Not sure if we'll hear from the OP, but the specs he meant were the dollar selling limits - which as far as I know are tied to a specific account.

so lets say i "buy" your account because you have a high sell / list limit... The first thing I would have to do is switch over the bank information for payment. As I recall they ask for name on account? this alone would send up a red flag, forget the changing the e-mail address and all the other things that would have to be changed on the account.

So when you first open an eBay account you can list 10 items... and once you pass i believe its $300 in sales, it opens up. The next hurdle is the Seller rating, you want to get to achieve "Top Rated Seller" and that requires selling 100 items in a 6 month period with a total value exceeding $1000. At this point you can request a limit increase.

The other way around this is to open with a business account... use the store option and list to your MAX amount, and then call and request a limit increase, and do this repeatedly.

I just dont think "buying" a store is going to achieve the desired outcome, and from the way i am looking at it, it pretty much would ensure the account ends up closed. Lets be honest someone buying a store with say a $40,000 limit is nothing but asking for trouble on eBays part, so the moment account details start getting changed such as bank accounts and e-mails, I am pretty sure they will lock it down and there will be some verification that has to happen.

Yep. I imagine the OP is now relaying this to his friend.
