Anyone have experience with dropshipping?

Hey Warriors,

I wanted to know if anyone had experience working with dropshipping. I have heard to avoid going with actual dropshipping companies and lean towards finding manufacturers and contacting them directly. If they don't do dropshipping you can always pitch them the idea. I guess I am wondering where to begin looking, how to get through to the company (phone/email/etc.), what to look for in a reputable company, and what all generally goes into dealing with dropshipping.

I already have a fairly large niche site and have a lot of experience with SEO/PPC/Email/etc. I'm just looking for info on dropshipping! even if anyone could point to to a great resource they have used in the past, that would be great.

          Dropshipping works great if you find a true wholesaler rather than a "middleman" retailer posing as a dropshipper. I've exclusively used dropshipping for my ~50 ecommerce stores over the past 8 years and it's been hugely profitable. You just need to be educated about the subject before heading out to find your dropship supplier.

          I haven't checked out Sam's product but it sounds like that might be a great way to get educated about the subject.

          In addition to that, here are a few articles I've written about the dropshipping & identifying true wholesale dropshippers:

    Dropshipping can work if you are in the right niche and have reliable suppliers. I unfortunately went into British football products and every time a customer ordered, my supplier told me that they were out of stock. I lost customers and made a loss. Only the website and dropshipping companies benefit from your registration.

    I would strongly urge you to put adsense on your website because you may make more from adsense than dropshipping. Again that is just my view after experiencing the nightmare.

    Now looking for a way to make $100 per day using IM.....any ideas?

    I work for a company that has a pretty large wholesale and drop shipping division. Drop shipping is usually more costly, which can cut into your profits. If you have the cash, you're almost always better off buying wholesale, but drop shipping is a viable solution if you don't have the time to ship and package on your own.

    Some drop shipping companies won't list stock, while others will. If they have a large catalog, it might be difficult to keep track of the status of every single product. That said, quite a few are pretty good. I don't recall us having any issues supplying products.

      It usually also makes sense to offer a very specific "micro niche" product line at your store. The catalog is generally smaller & stock issues are less frequent.

      Of course, the biggest reasons for sticking with a very select micro niche are to avoid the over-saturated markets where retail giants live! Ideally, you should find a product line that isn't readily available with a large selection for people locally & that is also relatively expensive. That way you make a good amount of $/sale. If you're going to process 2-3 orders a day, you may as well make $50/sale in profit rather than $5!
