Ecommerce Shopping Cart Script Recommendation Please

I am looking for a good script to use as a shopping cart catalog for a small used furniture store. One we can upload photos for customers to see larger image, order, etc. Free or cheap is what I am looking for. I'm also looking for someone to install for me as well. Please share your recommendations with me here.

I read a mention about VirtueMart which is an Open Source E-Commerce solution. Is that a good one?

Have you checked Oscommerce shopping cart?

Sometimes hosts provide Oscommerce or another shopping cart with one click installation from your host panel.

Awesome! I just installed it with fantastico. So far so good. I am going to play with it. Wow! That's what I love about this forum. Your fellow warriors got your back.

Looks like you've got sorted with Oscommerce 56villages, but just in case you decide to keep looking, I'd recommend Prestashop = PrestaShop Free Open-Source e-Commerce Software for Web 2.0 - free, open source, very easy to use from scratch.

    Good luck!

    Hey sentient,

Your recommendation looks very good. Like it much better. Now is the installation easy? I kind of know how to create a database and stuff. But if it's too much work, I need to outsource the configuration and installation. In fact, that is what I want to do. Thank you for your input. Still waiting for more fellow warriors to chip in.

Dude! This looks totally cool! It looks like the winner. I have not downloaded or install it yet. But from fooling around with the demo, it looks really awesome!

      Thank you!

I've got a Magento site (www.sentientclothing.co.uk - not promoting, just showing you an example) and three using Prestashop. Presta is pretty simple to install if you follow the instructions on the site.

Prestashop is by far the easiest to get up and running, Magento cost me quite a bit in outsourcing costs because any changes needed coding, and you need to have optimised hosting otherwise it will run slow. But it does have a lot of extra functionality compared with Presta.

I have heard many good things about magento but apparently it has a ver high learning curve.
But if you want something very easy to install and operate (no frills) then like sentient i recommend Prestashop.

Unfortunately I am not able to PM you. I'm still kind of a new kid on the block. I need to post more stuff here.

What do you mean by open source? The price for their shopping cart is from $295 USD to $1,795 USD. Am I missing something?

This is from Interspire's website: "Our developer network gives you the documentation you need and the code is 100% open source. You have full control over every aspect of the store - from the public area to the control panel and more."

I use Zen Cart, I think it's better than OS Commerce but either will do. There's no major differences.

If you like Oscommerce you should also check out ZenCart. It's a free cart developed by a small group that broke away from Oscommerce a while back.

So far, I think Prestashop is definitely the winner. Very easy to install and their template is great. Easy to manage admin. I'm loving it so far. Even I could install it.

    Dear All,

I am very new on these stuffs...Would like to know to get these things works, it's better off to get a 'pay' hosting company rather than a free hosting?

I was thinking of getting a ECommerce that able to use paypal will do. I did have Xsitepro 2 and it's integrated with paypal but i have alot of stuffs to sell [Around 100+ items] which i prefer to have something that i can just add in picture and sell it.

I am interested to add in mailing list feature on the ecommerce as well. Does prestashop have it? Does Prestashop has alot of themes to choose?

You can also get a very good free hosted shopping cart at 1freecart.com. Highly recommended if you don't want to or can't install a script on your own domain. It only takes Paypal, but the paid version $15/month will accept credit card merchant accounts such as authorizenet.
