What products sell on the internet?

Hey Warrior Forum,

I'm on the verge of starting my dropshipping business but just before I registered a new domain name I started doubting whether my product would sell online or not.

I'm currently looking at selling jukeboxes.

On the keyword 'jukebox' there are 5400 exact searches a month.
On the keyword 'buy jukebox' there are 480 exact searches a month.

It sounded quite good to me but the thing I'm wondering about is, do jukeboxes actually sell through webshops?

If anybody has an idea about this, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks in advance,
Tejabuu.

You can target both of these keywords in your pages and posts so don't worry about the domain name you bought. But whether jukeboxes sell online or not, I'm not also sure since I never tried selling one. Just be positive however and you might get some sales soon.

    Hi Tejabuu,

Have you already found drop shippers?

If you have already found suppliers then you should do a quick Google search for the EXACT items that you will have access to and make sure you can compete in terms of pricing.

If you find competition, and your pricing will be equal to theirs (or better) then I would recommend moving ahead with this project.

    Good luck!
    Anton

Juke boxes have to cost a fortune to ship which of course is going to get built into the price. I think most people would probably just go to a local coin operated game type shop that sells video games or even a flea market or soemthing like that. maybe even look on craigslist. I personally wouldn't buy a jukebox from online big part of the reason being even if you offer "free shipping" i know probably a few hundred bucks is built into the price for shipping. plus with a larger higher ticket item like that id like to see it in person. thats just me though.

    Hi,

A VERY quick search on (there are more)
    - Jukebox - Compare Prices, Reviews and Buy at Nextag
    - Amazon.com
    - and even BestBuy has 2 different models,

shows that people are buying them. But like alksense said you need to compare your model to what others are selling.

    Good Luck,

    Sandra Walsh

    Have a great day

Frankly speaking I am not very sure whether jukeboxes sell online or not. I have never tried selling jukeboxes before. However, the best way to find that out is to search online for sellers of jukeboxes. If you find that there are sellers of jukeboxes, then you may go ahead and start your business.

In order to overtake your competitors, you may try various types of SEO related activities.

    1) Try article writing with a few primary keywords, like the ones you have searched already (jukebox and buy jukebox). Just make sure that the content of the articles are of excellent quality.

    2) You may also try social bookmarking and directory submissions. These will create backlinks for your site, which will ultimately help people know about your site and also do business with you.

    3) Why don't you start a fan page of your site on various social networking sites, like Facebook and Twitter? However, you need to be active on such pages so that people find it interesting and their engagement increase on your page.

Hope my suggestions will help you.

  • What I have collected is that what ever you sell correctly with correct price and means it will surely be sold in the market. Just do the correct marketing.

Selling to hyper niche markets is probably a good idea, as you can build very specific keyword sites that should rank better and be easier to do SEO for as opposed to generic "we sell it all" sites that realistically could not compete with the Amazons of this world.

Have you considered setting up something like an ebay store specifically for jukeboxes to compliment your main money site? They'll bring in a lot of targeted traffic for you, I imagine a lot of people who would want to buy one would possible check ebay.

    Best of luck to you!

When looking at ultra niche sites, what do you guys look for as far as search parameters? I have a niche with around 2900 month exact searches. Do you think this is enough for a site to solely sell this product? of course, there are many other long tails getting searched too.

  • I look at 3 things.

    Demand, competition, and profitability.

Then, I take a ROUGH estimate using a formula such as this one:

Demand x CTR x Est. Conversion rate = estimated profit per month.

Say you have 2900 exact searches.

And IF you're #1 on google for that keyword, you get about 45% of the clicks (so about 1305 clicks)

And from those 1305, I then take a 2% conversion rate, or, about 26 sales.

Then, I multiply that by my profit margin. If you were making, say $60 dollars a sale on this item (not subtracting taxes) that would be $1566.00 per month on that niche.

(If you ranked just #2, you get 15% of the clicks making your profit just over 500 dollars a month)

But, I don't know your profit margin on those items - and that is a value to know before you make the decision - not just the number of searches. So my numbers are obviously off without knowing that number.

Again, you have to take the 3 things in conjunction - Demand, competition, and profit margin - then calculate the feasibility using ACTUAL stats and data to make the decision.

(A source on the 'value of organic ranking' is found here)

I've been teaching people to make data-based decisions for years - and it is the only way to approach decisions. Otherwise, you're just guessing - know what is going to happen BEFORE you jump the gun.

    Good question -

Great response Auction, thanks for that. I'm going to contact some suppliers and find out more. Most of the top sites now are either large mega mall type stores or very poorly designed niche sites- which is why I'm interested.

    Thanks again!

      MNEntre,
How do you plan on promoting your Jukebox website? Organic? Paid?

I did a quick keyword research through Long Tail Pro and it looks like there are some good keywords out there for jukeboxes.

Since I already did the search, here's a copy of what I found.

A sizable part of the puzzle is finding a dropshipper.

There's are many things I'd like to sell even in areas where I'm already trading however finding a dropshipper can be tricky.

My suggestion is you do not base your store dependent on a couple keywords, base it on a large number of fans or jukeboxes lovers, collectors, etc. Do some research of your competitors, look in Facebook, youtube etc what videos and fan pages exist and if they are active with fans or not.
I will focus in building a community around me of jukeboxes related people and only after I will introduce my products to them..
Tip: You are using a forum here... Any forums for jukeboxes lovers out there..??

Do not be a stranger for them and they will buy it from you!

The only way to find out if they sell is to try it. I dont think anyone can really tell you though. Do some research ( along with some trying added in there) and see if you can get it to work for you. Its worth a shot.

I buy products that dont surprise me on arrival. Phones, mobile accessories, etc.
It wouldn't be fair to generalize what sells and what not. When people are even buying art online, you can imagine the market and audience is huge.

Let us know how your jukebox sales go. When you pursue your next item I would be cautious about posting my exact business plans to a public forum - perhaps PM a few respected individuals with your thoughts first. (as you now likely have 5 others looking into this niche now)
