Hey guys!

I currently have an online store for primarily Diabetic Supplies.

I am thinking about setting up an Ebay store for my niche. I am aware of the fee's but on the other hand they do drive traffic? So making money(smaller margins) is better than making NO money.

I searched(adv searched also) for good ebay threads on Do's and Dont's however I didnt found anything satisfying.

I am very familiar with SEO and I dont think content would be an issue.

But anything to help me decide which listing options to use ( auction style, etc).

And basic tactics to give me that edge over the competition. Since my niche is Diabetic Supplies - there will be competition.

But from what I gathered - Providing great :
  • Customer Service
  • Great Product
  • Good Shipping Timeframes

Will atleast make me gain some sales while I build up feedback and acquire powerseller status and scale up as needed.

Any additional info would be very helpful. Its for my 9-5 Job ( as their Marketing Director ....teehee ).

We also do have an E-Commerce store with Volusion for Diabetic Supplies- but traffic is low any tips on driving traffic to an ecom store would also be helpful.

+Rep and Thanks are given!

Thanks Warriors!

I have had more luck with buy it now listings as opposed to auction style. Like you said, provide great customer service and the word will spread, plus it will help your feedback. And leave positive feedback for your customers as soon as the items ship then they will be far more likely to reciprocate.

As far as your regular web store, you'll need a combo of seo, PPC, and forum work to spread the word.

    Good luck!

    Oh man.

I have SOOOOOOOO much experience in this area it's sick.

It ALL depends on your product, the eBay market worth, the behavior of it in the past, and the 'smartest kid in class'.

You have to study your product, and how it sold best.

I have a free eBook on it on my external site, but I'm not sure what the rules are about promoting a free eBook about it (I know the rules about paid eBooks- but not free ones).

PM me if you want info on it, and I'll give you all the tips and tricks of eBay you want.

I buy alot of medical products on ebay (medicine, supplements, etc) and I always look for the "buy it now" ones. I don't think it's worth waiting a couple of days for an auction to end in order to buy supplements, capsules, etc just to save a couple of $. The customers (like me) are usually in a rush to get these products.

      • Why wait a couple of days when you can sort by 'time ending soonest' and see which ones are ending in a mere couple of minutes?

Also, you can find some good sniping tools make sure you're winning the auctions as well.

So, you're getting the best of both worlds. Saving money and getting them quick.

Ya but for medical supplies, the ending bid is usually as much as the buy it now. Also, if you go know on ebay and write Diabetes in dietary supplement section, you will see the most items are of type buy it now.The advantage of buy it now format is that you can create a listing and show the quantity you have in stock. People can buy for example 3 of your supplement and the listing will still be available. If it's an auction, they can only buy 1 and your listing will go away once the purchase is completed and you would have to relist (I might be wrong but I think it works that way)

Yes, this is true - but if they have multiple quantities available you have a chance of getting a 'second chance offer'

This is essentially the seller saying "Hey, I know you lost the item, but I'm willing to sell you the item for the price you bid - accept?"

If you look at their completed listings you can see what price they let the item go for, but that as your max bid, and buy them for that price time after time.

It's also a good strategy for sellers that want to sell LOTS of items in just one auction!

When selling Durable Medical Equipment (DME's) you should also carefully look into making sure you have gone through the proper legal channels. The black market sale of medical supplies is something actively being looked into by non-law enforcement agencies for the government as well.

If you haven't looked into the laws probably a good idea to make sure you have before you publicly post about it ;P.
