My First Time Item Sold in Dropshipping

Hello,

I got approved by a dropship company last week and started selling their products. Got 10 visits and sold 1 product. Just a little amount of $$$ but it feels really good to see that first $$$ after doing some effort.

I think I have a big problem here. I'm not that focused. LOL. I find success and then move to another stream of income.

I started with affiliate marketing last September and doing great with it. Made around $300+ within 3 months. Launched a website. Currently maintaining it.

Then, I read about dropshipping, tried it and then saw results. I think I'm going to do this as well.

Amazon affiliate - sold one too. This year, I'll make around 5 websites for amazon.

I do this full time at this time (doing it fulltime since March 2012 - no day job) so I'll have a lot of time except this June (work contract in Saudi Arabia for 2 years). I'm pretty much going to build all my earners this 1st quarter of 2013 and maintain them from June until the end of the year.

I hope to make this a replacement for my day job.

THIS FORUM IS A GOLD FOR ME. I have learned a lot here. Thank you all!

    Congratulations for your first sale!

I'm also interested in digging into drop-shipping, and hopefully will start a website very soon. By the way which country are you located in? And which market(country) are you targeting?

That's exactly what I wanted to listen from you. You looked an Asian to me

I am also from Asia and looking to start an eCommerce business and my target market is US. Just stuck with some legal formalities, can you help sharing your personal experience? Just added you on Skype

Good job, buddy. Try making some quick videos on products and post them to youtube...not difficult and well worth the effort.

  • Welcome, and good job!

Make sure to keep your focus up -- and make sure to KNOW your profit margin BEFORE you list an item.

If you're listing for the sake of listing items (no matter the platform) you could be in for surprises.

A lot of people are lured into the ease and simplicity of dropshipping, but the fact remains that to do it RIGHT and to do it PROFITABLY takes time, and careful--calculated steps to make sure you're undercutting competition, analyzing your market, negotiating appropriate prices, and using only the best suppliers (and not the ones that are signing up 'just anyone')

Well done - and here's to a profitable venture for you!

Thank you very much for commenting. That's my main problem. I lose focus when I get too excited.

When my site went online years ago, I got a sale a day for the first week. After three days of no sales I could have sworn something was terribly wrong. How naive I was to think that a new business would make sales every day (many do not, of course, especially in the beginning).

I attribute the happy first week to Google giving me a kind of "welcome to the show" exposure. My sites have done this a few times when first launched and it just seems that then, and maybe still a bit now, new sites get a jump start when first going live after indexing.

Don't be discouraged if things don't go as well over the next few weeks. And keep tabs on what gets you the sales! Find what works and repeat.

      Congrats and keep on moving.
