Hello,

I have my site designer building two sites for me, and now he's telling me the WP Cart he was going to use won't work (WP eCommerce). The reason is because all of my items/services have two many different options per item to be placed in the Shopping Cart itself..

When I say options, I'm not talking about item colors, sizes, quantity, etc.. (see below)..

I'm selling services; my service pages were set up by the designer with 3 items across x 8 items down. The price is on-top, and a 'Add to Cart' button is under each service > Looks real nice and easy to use.. The problem is he says the cart he was going to use can't collect the different information I need for each service in the cart and send it to me.. I'm no expert on WP Shopping Carts so he might be right?

One solution was purchasing a Cart66 & Gravity forms which would cost approx $180.00 for each site..

First let me show you 4 extreme differences of collected information I need to be added to the cart for 4 items so my customer can fill them out and I get a copy of the information via email:

> 'ADD TO CART' button on service >
To be collected in cart:
> Form URL entry needed for purchase > Complete Twitter URL: ( * required)
> Form USERNAME entry needed for purchase > Twitter username Only: ( * required)
> Form COMMENT BOX entry needed for purchase > Any Additional Information and Comments: (optional)

> 'ADD TO CART' button on service >
To be collected in cart:
> Place over first Form: e.g. URL Must Be Location To Add Likes.
> Form URL entry needed for purchase > Complete URL to Add Facebook Likes: ( * required)
> Form OPTION entry needed for purchase > Likes Added Too: 'Fan Page/Timeline' or 'Website' or 'Photo' or 'Status/Post' ( * required)
> Form OPTION entry needed for purchase > Delivery Method: 'Regular' or 'Drip Feed' ( * required)
> Form COMMENT BOX entry needed for purchase > Any Additional Information and Comments: (optional)

> 'ADD TO CART' button on service >
To be collected in cart:
> Form URL entry needed for purchase > Complete Youtube URL: ( * required)
> Form OPTION entry needed for purchase > Delivery Method: 'Regular' or 'Drip Feed' ( * required)
> Form COMMENT BOX entry needed for purchase > Any Additional Information and Comments: (optional)

> 'ADD TO CART' button on service >
To be collected in cart:
> Form URL entry needed for purchase > Senders Complete Twitter URL: ( * required)
> Over next Form: e.g. Regular Campaign = 1 Tweet Sent From (Quantity/Option 1) Accounts; Double Campaign = 2 Tweets Sent From (Quantity/Option 2) Accounts
> Form OPTION entry needed for purchase > Please Choose: 'Regular Campaign' or 'Double Campaign' ( * required)
> Form MESSAGE entry needed for purchase > 1 Tweet For Regular Campaign: (for space for 160 charactors) ( * required)
> Form MESSAGE entry needed for purchase > 2nd Tweet For Double Campaign: (for space for 160 charactors) (optional, only needed for Double Campaign)
> Form OPTION entry needed for purchase > Delivery Method: 'Regular' or 'Drip Feed' ( * required)
> Form COMMENT BOX entry needed for purchase > Any Additional Information and Comments: (optional)

If a WP cart expert can help either choosing another shopping cart or would it be possible to set up forms for each category to be filled out with WP e-Commerce and auto sent to me ( I realize I'll be receiving 2 confirmations from the cart - but only one will include the important information..

I can't be PM'd yet, I don't think - so Skype if you can't leave info here,

Would greatly appreciate your help, Thank you

    Hey Mate

I had the same sort of problem awhile back. The simple answer is WP is not a very good eCommerce platform. If my customer is selling one or two products its ok but it was never set up to be a eCommerce platform, spend some more dollars and look at a magneto system

      Hey Paul

I played with open cart and found it to also be very good, reason i went with Magneto is my guy is really good with it so figured we would just stick with that

Hey Playtone & Paul, thanks for the info..

I'll be looking both carts over and I appreciate your impute. My designer just dumped my site (WP) mid stream because he underpriced the job and his team couldn't handle the cart problem..

He was an honest guy though, and gave me a full refund and said his team would fill a new one in on what was done. So now I'll be looking for a new designer, I'm sure I'll find one in the forum - I hope.

    Thanks again.,
