First let me say how happy I am that we finally have ecommerce section to post on. Could be good growth area.

Over next four weeks or so I will be gathering data for a niche to target. There seems to be few opposing strategies in bringing in traffic for Ecommerce website. But which yields higher conversions lower time spent? I know some of this is dependent on type of ecommerce store but I suspect ecommerce is inherently different than Internet Marketing.

1) Price Comparison Websites. Alksense seems to favor this approach and I was highly impressed with his website. How much should I plan to spend here per month when starting out?

2) Paid advertising (Amazon AD PPC) - What is a decently monthly budget when starting?

3) Shopping Engines (paid version)

3) Content - this is area I strong feelings about because I think IM created an era of journalist...who weren't really journalist. I hate the idea of forcing myself to write articles pretending to be a journalist to receive google blessing. But I can't deny its powerful effects on ranking your website.

4) On site SEO - love this idea and it requires minimal time and might have strong ranking potential.

Look forward to hearing your responses.

For my main niche Adwords PPC and ranking well for some key words are my main money winners

I am sure its really going to depend on the niche

You need to do all of the above, however PPC, Comparison and shopping engines all you to get started almost the same day which means you can start selling the same day.

As for conversion data, that depends on your niche. My experience is you need to waste a lot of money testing in order to find the 'sweet spot'.
