Got a quick question, if your doing ebay part time where would you look for items to sell on ebay?
Is it still possible to find items online to either dropship or buy to then list on ebay?
Thanks in advance.....

I have no experience with dropshipping but you can find some great items on Craigslist or your local thrift stores. Spend some time searching in the cell phone listings in your local CL area. Take a couple ads and go and check the prices on ebay. You will want to look at the sold listing price to get a good idea of what they are going for. Take the CL asking price and subtract about 10 percent to cover ebay and paypal fees. This should led you know if the sale would be profitable or not. Don't forget to decide if you will be offering free shipping or not.

    Good luck.

I actually have an ebay business myself.

One place you can look is liquidation.com if you have some money to invest.

  • There are plenty of places to source items. From craigslist, to storage auctions, to thrift stores, garage sales, to neighbors, to your garage, to liquidations, imports, dropshipping, personal manufacturing, consignment, etc.

It really doesn't matter where the items come from.

What DOES matter is IF you're profitable from the source.

One previous poster picked an arbitrary '10 percent' deduction and said BAM there's your margin.

    Nope.

There are so many more deductions that you have to consider when finding profit - no matter the source.

And it all stems from the market worth of the item and KNOWING the specific deductions then making an INTELLIGENT 'go or no go' decision from there.

Dropshipping tends to give you razor thin margins -- that's why I tend to stay away from it.

I prefer the higher margin sales, personally.

Many times people say 'I want to do dropshipping because it's less work'.

However, some dropshippers have obnoxious processes for their items and it can take a while to process a sale.

And if I'm making 400 dollars a sale on ONE product, and I have to package it and ship it from my house, that is WAY less work than processing 80 sales for 5 dollars profit from a supplier for the same amount of money.

It's all about MARGINS -- because TIME equals money as well and NUMBERS make decisions.

I have picked up some items on Ali Express and listed them on Ebay. I have spent some time testing a few markets but the mark ups are small. I do Ebay and IM as a part time hobby actually found a nice niche at this point.

Read the Auctiondebtelimators e-bay guide it has helped me. I also hit the local flee-market in my area to buy products to sell on e-bay it is a good learning experience.

      Hey man!

      Thanks for the plug!

We've got quite a lot of popularity and a great community, and it's growing everyday. And I do enjoy your publicity.

The truth is that many people on eBay just don't know what the're doing. They guess their prices, and if items don't sell they automatically assume their price is too high.....when in reality - it could be their RANKINGS!

And they will habitually lower their prices until it sells ---- never realizing they took a loss -- because they ALSO never ran MARKET data against deductions.

It's a great system I teach to sell 100% of your listing for a profit --- and to compete with ANYONE even top-rated powersellers.

      Thanks again for the plug!

Basically you will need to find the best product in the internet that is very much searchable for other people. You will also need to have a good Idea of product that you will sell on ebay. There are lots of suggest inside the internet but be careful to choose the best product or keywords to target on.
    Hope it helps.

      Keywords are one thing.

      Profit margin is another.

      Rankings? Another.

Funneling traffic from 'tire-kicker' to 'begging to buy from you an no one else?' another.

Combining all of them into one? = Dominating all eBay competition.

      Don't just focus on one.

Many of our partners are selling on Ebay. They found us usually through worldwidebrands or salehoo. So maybe these are the right places.

  • I did talk to one of my one-on-one student yesterday.

He had AMAZING rankings for his listings - he followed all of the rules for ranking the items and it was great.

However, even with all of the traffic, the LISTINGS themselves weren't funneling the traffic appropriately.

You always need to remember (and this is with websites as well)

Traffic is one thing, but you need to convert that traffic into BUYERS.

I call this the 'packaging/funnel/branding of your items'.

You never 'describe' and item you're selling.

You SELL it. And yourself, your customer service -- their experience, etc.

Once you sell a great product, a great way, your conversion rates SKYROCKET.
