How to build a list from ecommerce customers?

I'm looking to build a list from my ecommerce customers automatically, when they buy a product.

I'm not sure why, but I can't seem to find a way to do this without having a regular subscribe button.

Is it possible? Is there an easy way?

    Yes,

    It is possible.

    Every time they buy an item!

    Once a customer has purchased an item from you, and filled in their information, they are now YOUR customer. And you now have a list!

    They don't have to subscribe to anything. Just once they purchase, they are now part of your 'list' and can opt out at anytime.

    Ummmm, capture their email address when they buy something. You need it anyway to send purchase confirmation, tracking ID info and so on. Can't see how this is a big production, the shopping cart should be able to do this.
