I just am curious about those with successful eCommerce sites, what is your best means of driving traffic? If you use multiple ways, which I am sure you must, list them in terms of favorite ot traffic volume if you wouldn't mind?

Wondering if this is any different to say an AdSense or Amazon or affiliate site?

I concentrate heavily on Facebook because majority of my target audience are in FB.

    I use facebook ads:

I also use this tool called post planner in posting to FB groups (I have over 50 Facebook groups and we post specific content (not spam) related to that group each day using Post Planner) - this brings me my second highest traffic source next to Google.

        1. Google Adwords - Search Only
        2. Google Shopping (connected with Adwords)
        3. Amazon Product Ads
        4. Bing Ads
        5. Facebook / Social Media (definitely bottom of the list for effectiveness)

You can emphasize on Blogs, articles as well as Forums that link back to your website.

You can make some videos of the products and can upload in you tube etc.

Also, Facebook , Google plus and Twitter promotion will also help in generating huge amount of traffic to your eCommerce sites.

You can also focus on Google Ad sense - some paid ads at Google, also in Facebook.

I have heard that Bing Ads is quite effective and cheaper than Google Adwords.

    Google Organic (SEO etc)
Facebook organic (posts, shares, notes, website fan page etc)
    Google+
    Google PPC
    Pinterest
    Twitter
    Facebook Ads

In that order. Obviously the one missing is organic link building which kind of comes and goes for us. We like to think that other people take care of that for us (customers etc) as there is certainly evidence they do. It is something which we are looking more into this year though.

    Thanks,
    Paul.

Bing Ads definitely effective and half the price of Google PPC. Only about one third of the traffic though.

It also depends upon your budget However most widely used for ads are social media. Businesses are earning much more by using social media i.e. Facebook, Twitter.
Search engines like Google, Bing, ask etc are also most favorable in this case. If your budget is low then use Bing and use Google in case of handsome budget.

I would suggest to use different techniques for attracting of clients to your sites however don't ignore SOCIAL MEDIA because it's the need of the day.

    Wish you best of luck.

Good question nowadays. Google Adwords prices are increased 3 times during past 3 years- it eats most of your profit. I suggest to use Facebook and Bing Ads. You can try solo ads also.

I start with social because the target market are usually there...in groups.

Market to them, connect, create new ads targeted to the demographics

Build a brand rapport with them then search for local bloggers and reach out to them

    Then PPC

Then SEO stuff. I put this last because you basically have all the data you need for your seo campaigns after going through all that. It'll give you a long term plan on what to do based on the data you gathered
