What should I tell ebay during the verification process?

I have heard both sides of this. I have heard that they frown upon dropshipping now but then again you have powersellers that dropship and can sell whatever they want. Not really sure as i have not been active in ebay much lately

This is systematic verification. You are going to probably have to supply more information so that they can verify your information with public record information, and the private information they have collected from a shared database.

This check is really just to gather a little more information on you to allow you to become a more legitimate seller on eBay. You are receiving the notice because you've hit an income mark where they need to look more into your details to see if they want to allow you to sell more on eBay.

The process is very different if you are from the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Australia. It's a little more of an "easier" process if you are outside of these countries.

If your geographical location is totally different from the location on your listings where your item is being shipped from, in a quick phone call they might ask if you are dropshipping or if you are having another company ship your items. I would suggest being honest, because if you lie or give a complicated answer in an attempt to trick or deceive them from the actual answer - they will probably ban you within the next week. This information is really only relevant to you if you are from the countries listed above. When I have set up legitimate accounts here in China, I was never questioned about this even when dropshipping.

If you are from the countries I listed above, then there is a 50% chance you are going to be hit with an mc999 (ban) within a week or two from the verification process. This is more-so automatic, and a couple phone calls with the right people might clear this up. Many people do not get past this point. Many who do are ultimately suspended upon the 2nd seller verification which is much less systematic and a person actually views your information when they reach $70,000 USD in sales a year.

eBay does not have a good opinion on shipping items from a 3rd party distributor which was explained to upon conversation at a small Q and A at eBay Live in 2012. I've had an account rep tell me the same thing in a round-about way. eBay deems dropshipping as less reliable and trustworthy - but this does not mean it can not be done. I do it, and many other people that sell in a good volume do it as well.

Again, there is a difference based on your country. In China, selling internationally, I've never had these issues, they just ask for my ID number, and business information.

It is always wise to prepare for the worst, but try not to lose sleep over it.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. I will go ahead and do the verification. If I get ban then I think I will just create my own ecommerce store.

Stay in your selling limit for now.. It will increase within 3 months from your first sold item.. no need to send documents for verifcation.

Well you could go ahead and create your site for your items. Once your item sells on ebay and if you ship the item yourself then put somewhere on the invoice your stores url. Or if it is dropshipped then send them an email promoting your store.

I'm an eBay power seller myself.

At the begging, they limited my account, because i made way too much money I made selling electronics. All they needed though, was my SSN and an ID.

You don't need to tell them about dropshippers, Just tell them you get your stuff from Liquidation.com ( they love that site).

Also, I'm not sure if you're new to eBay or not, but just an advice, do NOT use dropshipping services on eBay. You won't make good money with them (if any). I don't care which dropshippers you're using, eBay+ Dropshipping =/= profit for you.
