How do people build websites that sell product for someone else.

How does the drop shipping business work. How do you set up a website that sells other peoples products along with your own. I know you would have to charge them a % but how to you get in contact with the company's/owners of the product?

I plan on building a website soon that will specialize in certain products. I'm just thinking of all the sources i can drive revenue from.

Anyone with E commerce experience or affiliate marketing advice or even past experience story's would be extremely helpful.

How much do people make on avg with these types of websites?

    First of all, you can choose an affiliate program to work with. Here are quite popular sources to find a program: Constitution Group and ClickBank. You will see the available programs, %, and lots of different options. Then you will have to apply for a company's affiliate program which will have to accept your request and make you a partner. To do this, you need to have a fully functional website which meets all the rules and regulations set by the company. They will give you a link and give you % for leads or purchases. Amazon and eBay offer their affiliate programs as well.

    Concerning search traffic promotion:
    1. you choose the product you wish to promote
    2. you analyse the set of key phrases you would like to promote the product with
    3. for each keyword you create a relevant, optimized page
    people type keyword, find what they search, read detailed info and probably buy something.

      Are you talking about a drop shipping business for yourself or do you mean setting up a distributor portal for manufacturers to sell through you (I.e Doba). There are carts that allow this functionality but they are normally run by established distributorships.
