    • Taobao is the Chinese language equivalent of eBay. Online translations will be of little help to English speakers.

      There are hordes of Chinese people offering their services to buy products on Taobao for you. The problem is how do you know that you are getting a fair deal?

      They charge a commission and that is usually quite small, but do they also get a commission from the supplier??? Do they buy from a supplier that they are connected with in some way?

      There is no way you can know whether or not you can trust the person who offers to buy from you on Taobao.

      Would you pay someone to do your shopping for you locally and rely completely on them? Would you give them your money to spend and say get me the best deal on product X?

      If not, why consider it with someone thousands of miles away?
  • In fact, a lot of online sellers are importing goods from Taobao, or 1688 which consists of a lot of china suppliers.

    Buying from taobao website is not easy if you don't understand Chinese, and Google Translate isn't very helpful in the translation.

    If you need help in purchasing goods from Taobao, you may seek for Taobao Forwarder or Agent, such as I Love Taobao.
  • What I know is TaoBao is one Chinese Ecommerce website which is quite similar as Amazon and eBay,and it is handles by AliBaba group.It provides C2C and the best thing is it is world's most top 10 visiting website.

    • Yes it is huge but that does not make it useful for westerners who don't speak Chinese.

      As you say it is C2C and therefore a discussion on the subject is out of place here, This forum is for eCommerce, wholesaling and dropshipping.

      It is most definitely not a site that would interest anyone wanting to run a business.
  • taobao is for retail, unless you looking to buy stuff. It's not for business sourcing etc..
