Hi WarriorForum,

I'm new to the forum, and this is my first post. I've done some Google searching, but I can't seem to find any information on how to become a Dropship supplier/wholesaler, as opposed to becoming a drop shipper selling products. I would like to dropship the products we retail in our cookware store, if thats possible.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Perhaps a website that explains the process in more detail?

Thanks!

There are several ways you can get the word out about wanting to dropship your products, but here are the ones I would focus on:

Tell Google - If you simply create a website advertising that you are a dropship supplier for product X Google will index you and serve you up to retailers searching from a dropshipper in that market. In general, the competition to rank as a dropship supplier is far less than ranking for the product type itself. We created a dropship supplier website a couple months ago, haven't built a single link to it and it's #1 in Google for "product type + dropshipper."

Tell the retailers - Once you are set up and ready to roll you should reach out to the top 50-100 retailers in that market. Write up a nice email informing them that you are a dropship supplier in their market and let them know what products you offer and how to sign up with you. This should land you a fair amount of retailer sign ups because the smart retailers are always looking for good additional suppliers for their stores.

Get listed in directories - There are a handful of "dropship directories" you can get listed in that should bring you a fair amount of referrals. Best of all, it doesn't cost dropshippers anything to get listed in these portals. Here are a few that I know of:

    Worldwide Brands
    Salehoo
    Dropship Blueprint (mine)

Those 3 methods should get you a very good arsenal of online retailers ready to promote your products and have you dropship for them.

    I hope this helps!

Tdubs - if you are a retailer I take it that you are importing or buying your products from someone else, are you going to be able to offer people competitive rates for the market? If so I may be interested in working with you.

Dave gave you great advice on where to start. I would follow that.

@wakeforce139 -- yes, we are a retailer and buy a majority of our goods from wholesalers. With those products, I don't think there's enough margin built in to support drop shipping.

However, we recently direct imported some high quality Turkish cookware and our rates are competitive enough that setting up a drop shipping system would work.

      I'll PM you the details.

@CellGuru -- what do you mean by known people or established marketplace sellers? I'm not familiar with the drop shipping world, so I don't know who to contact. Right now, we retail goods on our website, Amazon.com, and Amazon.ca. I'm hoping to move into Ebay by the end of the year, and then into Amazon Europe by the middle of next year.

Dave is right. Get listed in as many supplier directories, but i personally started with known people or established marketplace sellers and send them samples to get started. It will be easy to strike business with ebay/amazon/buy sellers as they constantly look out to expand their inventory..
