What Is The Number One Service You Outsource?

Hey I'm an Aussie living in SEA, I owned an outsourcing company in the past and I have ecommerce experience. I am just wondering what WF eCommerce owners outsource, as I am looking to offer some services. Link Building? PPC? Product descriptions? Image editing?

What do you feel most comfortable handing over to someone else rather than doing it yourself?

Or perhaps you are referring to me? Yeah I have a team of Filipinos ... I have a few years experience in management in the Philippines. Of course those doing it super tight would prefer to save as many cost by managing the team themselves, however I know there is a market there, who prefer to save time and have a "westerner" who can help them on the ground ... anyway not really the point of the thread, just interested to know what people are looking to get off their plate.

Product data work. Really besides this I wouldn't be interested in outsourcing much. Even so I don't like to outsource it because there are still critical thinking components involved (category association, related products, variations on a product, adding new specs/attributes, etc).

So if you know someone that can figure all of that out at an affordable rate, let me know

Nothing worse than hiring someone to do these things, they say they can, and you review the work and it's a shit show.

    for ecommerce-
    image editing
    customer service
    order processing
content writing/product descriptions (work best when the customer service rep also has good english writing skills. Since they have to answer a lot of customer questions, they become very knowledgeable about the products.)

sure, I'd like to have some team who are familiar with contents, promoting etc.
then, what I do is shipping only.
    that's my idea.

In fact, I lost much money in outsourcing, the better way is cooperation, you are in charge of contents and promotion, I am in charge of payment and shipping.

I don't think anyone is down on it, I outsource the work that I know is going to be done better by someone else and I work on the things that I know I do well. You need to also keep in mind a lot of people don't have the resources to just pay someone to do everything for them.

I have a small network of people that I outsource a lot of stuff to, but I don't easily add people to that list.

Business owners tend to be down on outsourcing because most think that no one can do it as good as they can. When in fact there are many people who are much better at it.

For example: a lot of IMers who get into ecommerce go into drop shipping. But go outside IM for a moment. Most ecommerce business owners outside of IM are either manufacturers or resellers/retailers. Do you know how many don't use a fulfillment center because they act as though a company that does nothing but fulfillment can't do a better job than them? Even when it makes financial sense to hand it over to another company instead of getting huge warehouses, warehouse staff, etc., they still keep fulfillment in house and end up adding shipping staff instead of... oh sales and marketing staff?

So you end up with admin staff instead of revenue generating staff.

For those new to ecommerce, here's a little bit (I used to work in HR) companies look at jobs as either revenue generating or admin (expense). An admin is like shipping/mailroom, janitorial, etc. Your revenue generating are sales and marketing, customer service (if they upsell, keep customers onboard etc) and the ones who are responsible for creating products that bring in more money.

You have to have far more revenue generating people than you do admin people.

Even in ecommerce, you have revenue generating- SEO, PPC, Social Media. As a business owner, who is just starting out, outsource those admin tasks so you can focus on revenue generating and generate more revenue to bring in others who can do so.

If I had it to do all over again, I would have hired someone as soon as I got to enough revenue to get one full time outsourced employee. Back when I started, overseas outsourcing wasn't as accessible or well known. I would hire someone and focus on growth. Then i would hire another and focus on growth. Then I would hire another... you get the picture. I was able to get to a situation of having an incredible boost in monthly income very early... but i was just me... and since I didn't have that base, it didn't accelerate as fast as it could have.

Nothing worse than hiring someone to do these things, they say they can, and you review the work and it's a shit show.
Yeah that's why you need systems... procedures... people who can go in with very little info and just figure it out... well they typically don't work for entrepreneurs. They work for themselves or for large companies with perks.

Here's a priceless quote from a good friend "As soon as I got over the idea that I was going to find another me to work for me, I was able to accept the employees that are available, to me, in the marketplace."
