people say ' do what you love, love what you do' and that's exactly i am trying to do here, i have made a site with the products I know well, personally know the makers of the products, all are hand made and also had conversation with the FedEx guys for shipping options. But with my very limited budget and reach, can somebody tell me how i can make it successful ? How to see the first dot in my sales graph ? I have tried joint venture options, people are readily interested to invest in affiliate marketing but less interested in physical product selling as they involve lot of time and not instant on giving high profits ! So, now I have the site set up, some products added and ready to begin, but can anybody point me to the right direction, light up the torch ?

Creating a site is not even half the battle. Now you need traffic. If you don't have resources for paid traffic (PPC, search, display, retargeting) then focus on free traffic (forums, SEO, social media, referrals etc.) until your sales build up.

Check out Clickbank and Commision Junction. Those are some of the better known ones.

For ecommerce sites, online marketing and customer service are most important. For online marketing, you can engage in Google adwords, SEO, email marketing, affiliate marketing, social media marketing. What you need is a detailed marketing plan. You can select two or more based on your budget and industry. If you don't have such budget, SEO and affiliate marketing may be good choices.

When you have steady traffic, customer satisfaction and sales conversion may be something you should focus on. Live chat should be a good solution for online business, which enables you to track your visitors and engage them in real time, such as Comm100 Live Chat, Live Person, etc. Hope helpful for you. Good luck.

Its a great looking website that you have created, I am not too sure what to do in this kind of category but you could obviously find similar groups/forums/facebook pages that admire hand crafted stuff, especially pinterest, and get the word out there. Offline you could send a flyer to rich areas like Beverley Hills and what not, cause I think your products are not priced for an average income person. And one thing that would most certainly work is Google Shopping Ads. Also I have noticed that seo for ecommerce is extremely effective, it brings visitors one way or another plus your product doesn't have too much competition, but at the same time don't just rely on seo. Good luck, its possible.

And I see that your location on the site is India, Kolkata, remove that to a U.S based city and get a U.S based phone number through Google Voice, its free.

Hi arghya139! Checking out your site now. Let's see...

Okay, I see you're selling artisan handicraft stuff. Pretty cool.

First suggestion I have is to modify your "BUY NOW" text to have a bright coloured button around it. Text by itself is not very compelling.

2nd: Try to elaborate on why anybody should by your artisan products over anybody else's. Your products are rather expensive, so you're not going to be selling to bargain-hunters. So tell us the story. Where are these products from? Why are they interesting, compelling, unique? What's the narrative underlying your products that people should buy into?

You say you're friends with the craftsmen- so tell us more about them! What's their story? Where are they based? What work do they do?

If you're based in India and you're selling Indian products, I'd suggest communicating that better. "Only the finest crafts and jewels from India, for your home", that sort of thing. Anybody who's looking for Indian crafts should be able to find your site.

That should be a good starting point.

Btw, your delivery information, terms and conditions, privacy policy etc are all BLANK. That's a bit of a danger sign- I wouldn't feel comfortable spending hundreds of dollars on an incomplete site.

Get to work! Make your first sale soon. Good luck.
