I want to start a couple of Ecommerce niche sites. A few ideas I have are Party ladies dresses, iphone and ipad covers.

It will be helpful if I get an idea what is working for you and how do you market your website ??

Outside of the work I do (building and selling automated customer referral programs for ecommerce retailers), I sell niche t-shirts for my local audience. They do pretty well despite me not putting in very much effort to market or sell them.

The problem with selling iphone and ipad covers is- there are lots of sites that already do that, and do that really well. Why should anybody choose you over more established sites? That's the challenge. You need to differentiate your product and our brand in a way that makes people go "Yes, I'd rather buy this than what everybody else is buying."

Have you thought about how you're going to do that? That's the real important question- once you can answer this, everything else tends to fall into place quite nicely. Cheers and good luck! There's always room in the marketplace for quality.

I doubt if anyone is going to divulge the products they are successfully selling. I know I won't. It took me more than a year to find my niches. No offense meant, but that's just common sense.

Currently I am not selling any thing but I am planning to start a store of IT products like iphone and ipad covers, iPhone, Laptop, DEsktop Computers and all type of IT products.

I know, there are lot of stores who are selling these things. I always try to beat the market and I have good success rate.

Best of luck Jeff, if you end up succeeding in that niche you should come back and share your story.

I won't beat the dead horse on how difficult it is to enter that market but... it's REALLY difficult!

Nope. Based in the United Kingdom so the competition is VERY low (also suppliers are only willing to work with people who actually have knowledge of tools). I keep a HUGE selection as well as a number of specialist bits and pieces (things that the big retailers don't want to keep due to how few they would sell despite being one of the things that would draw in customers). I can also get anything that I don't have free next day delivery to my premises. Had 15 years of experience in the industry which makes it VERY simple to compete as I know all the avenues to go down to shift stock whereas those just getting started look simply to ecommerce which doesn't work right off the bat.

Tool retail is one of the few niches out there where you really do need to know about what you are selling and have an in depth knowledge on it too.

One helpful piece of advice I got on picking the right niche is that there are only two things that matter. 1) Can you make something better than all of the competitors out there and 2) can you get your site in front of people who want to buy it. If you can satisfy these two conditions you will make money.

I sell about 22k different products on my site ranging from ipad chargers, cheap tablets, phones, clothes , toys ,car stuff etc. I prefer to work with one ecomerce site only instead of 2 ,3 or more. I spend all my time promoting one site, doing seo, advertising and then aso listing he products on bonanza, amazon and some other sites.

    Hi curly sue,

I agree with comments posted about the extreme competition for iphone and ipad covers.

Party dresses also have a moderate amount of competition, but at least you can buy them direct from manufacturers in China. It is possible to place small orders with genuine manufacturers, so if you want maximum profits don't make the mistake of buying from wholesalers or dropshippers.

Party ladies dresses is a goodnich, but I suggest you build your social site first. It is good for social sale for this product.

You can hire some blogger owner to spread your items.
