Advice : Product page vs Sales Page

Hi everyone,

First post on the site but have been lurking for quite some time.

I'm selling 1 product, a physical product ... it's a streaming device that connects to the television similar to the AppleTV, Roku etc.

Now my question is...as a global marketing strategy would it be *better to have a basic product page like warpia.com then drive traffic to a review site comparing my product to Apple TV or Roku. ( are review sites still effective?)

Or

Should I just make one of those long drawn out sales pages with a nice video like satellitedirect.com and drive traffic directly to the sales page.

*Better for me= better coversions to sales

Thanks in advance

I'd say the fewer times a potential customer has to click, the higher your conversions will be (probably). Redirecting customers to another website, then expecting them to come back to yours could cut into your profits. Especially since you have only one product, a single sales page is probably your best bet.

Hmm... you definitely need at least one site/page where a buyer can find all the information they need on your product.

What's your overall strategy for marketing this product?

So far I have sales page @ Welcome to TVedia - Access to thousands of free movies & TV shows on the Internet

Driving traffic through youtube videos mostly. I'm in a messed situation cause my web developper disappeared on me lol so I can't modify my page, change pricing, do any A/B testing. Got 1 sale last week and have no idea where the traffic came from.

I know my business is solid because I'm making good money offline with both retail and wholesale clients. I just can't figure out how to get this thing online.

If someone on warriorforum can offer me an effective overall online strategy, I am all ears and opened to partner up.

      Thanks

Yes, a product page is fine. If it's one product, I would do a bunch of articles or other content related "things" around your product and use call-to-actions for lead in and squeeze to checkout and buy

...with one product, I would really diversify the way people "land" to buy, rather than have one great page. just my 2c

      sorry for being a n00b.

but what exactly do I do with these articles and how do they bring me traffic?

      Who writes these articles?

    freemedia,

As per the latest update with my clients, they've informed me that drawing traffic to your main website from review sites is no longer as effective was it was a year or two ago.

So, what they do is they post articles and product reviews of various word count to their main website.

To me, that's more logical because what you need is to drive traffic to your main site and not to somebody else's review site with a hope that someone might see your review article there so they'll be redirected to your main website.

I will closely monitor this thread so I can guide you whenever I am online. I am online most of the time during the day.

If you have the margins and already have the wholesale and retail distribution, this to me is a perfect opportunity to run an affiliate program, let others do the selling for you. That way you don't have to figure it all out, you just need to have a compelling landing page.

Interesting. This strategy is ideal for me. The margins are most definitely there to support an affiliate program and would take a huge load off of my time.

I have 2 hurdles going forward.

#1 I have no web design abilities, I've even invested in web design but the result is not that good. (see result tvedia.com) I realize that I'm the problem lol. I personally do not know what needs to be done in order to have a "compelling landing page" like you said. Are there any web designers that have this same vision as you do? I'm willing to form a team but I'm having trouble identifying which types of people I need and it's costing me a lot of money trying and failing. It seems like all the web designers I speak to have no internet marketing and sales experience.

#2 In terms of the affiliate program, is there affiliate network you can recommend? Also it's nice to say to myself I have an affiliate program but how do I promote my program to affiliates???

Thanks for your responses, much appreciated.
