I have a friend that bought a few thousand pairs of gardening gloves in the hopes of creating a little business from eBay but it flopped big time I think he said because of his ratings etc.. Anyway he know has thousands of these gloves but no idea what to do. Anyone have any suggestions? He said he would be happy just making his initial investment back.

Cheers guys

  • Hello Jim,

Thank you so much for your message. If items don't sell, it's because one of two things.

Either it was his research, or his listing formats.

When you sell on eBay, you can KNOW how much an item sells for BEFORE you list it. However you also need to know what format will yield that format as well. (Also predictable)

When you know those two things, you can exploit the views to actions ratio on eBay and rank your items REALLY high on eBay.

Once that happens, you can take the additional traffic you have on eBay and then funnel it from mere visitor to buyer with a well-developed brand funnel. This takes some adcopy development and some great descriptions.

It's rarely a 'ratings' issue. But if it is, that's a customer service issue! And that's a n easy fix! If you have that much skin in the game, you really need to fix that process so you can sell more gloves, and get repeat customers. Find out what process is broken by listening to your customers and make it a strength!
