Hi Warriors,
I am new to e-commerce. I have raised a store using woocommerce here: playseebow.com

Though I am yet to add more products, I would like to seek suggestions from you about the site. What are the things that I need to improve, add, remove or modify on my site?

  • You most likely want to rank in search engines.
Things you already have is meta information, which is convenient to rank in search engines.
But something more important that you need at the moment is more content related with the subject to make your website rank with the subject you want.
You can easily get some articles (which are content) from website which provide free articles. Here is an example with a website like that, it also provides articles about health because that is what your site is about: http://goarticles.com/category/health/
There are many more sources out there where you can find free articles about health, just search for "free articles" at google and you will find a bunch of other websites similar to http://goarticles.com/.

Also a very nice plugin for wordpress, since you are running your website with wordpress, is "WordPress SEO by Yoast". Just search it in the plugin list and install it, you have a lot of features which optimize your website for a higher ranking in search engines. And a higher ranking in search engines means more visitors, and visitors = $$$

Good luck with your website chihuahua1!

    • I agree.
Nice website, I will explore it thoroughly.
I've already installed this. No doubt that it's the best SEO plugin for WP.
      Thanks again
  • Hi, chihuahua1, I have visited your site and it seems a good start. As an ecommerce site, I just have two suggestions:

    1. A detailed product category should be necessary for customers to find what they want in a fast way. In addition to Brands, there should be some other ways to sort the products, such as the function, etc.

    2. You can add a About Us page to your site. Customers often want to know something about you before they decide to buy your products.

    3. You can add live chat to your site, which enables you to provide online support for your visitors, track visitors in real time and chat with them proactively. It helps you to improve customer satisfaction and sales conversion. There are some good chat plugins for WordPress, such as Comm100 Live Chat, Live Person, etc.

Hope helpful for you. Good Luck.

    • They're three :p
I will incorporate a categories page in top navigation.

What will be the right place to place About us link? The top navigation or the footer?

I was looking for a free/less expensive chat client for 1 user, a mobile app with be an added advantage. Integration with google talk or hangout will do the job for me. Which one do you recommend? What I dislike about many chat clients is that they look different from rest of the site and breaks the integrity. I do not want to advertise for the chat client and give them back-links from all my pages. Furthermore some chat widgets slowdown the loading of website. It will be a nice feature if chatbox appears after prospective customer spends some time on the website (say after 45 seconds).

UPDATE: For WordPress based site I found this chat plugin with one time buy (no recurring charges). Worth a try especially for start-ups that don't have a dedicated support team and need to track down every single user on site.

    • I was expecting replies from about the UI/UX. This isn't a nice way to promote your product in my opinion.

  • Good to see someone from India. My suggestions goes as follows:

    1. Site logo doesn't look appealing.
    2. Category shouldn't be in drop down menu.
    3. People don't like to see 'flexytalk' image. Remove that.
    4. Images under section We offer are very big.

    • Hi Hacktheworld

I've moved ahead with that logo and done some merchandising for office purpose. No way it's gonna change atleast for a few months.

Yes, I also didn't like the drop-down for category. Will make it a checkbox instead or maybe move it to navigation.

Flexytalk image is for time being. I will eliminate it ones I buy a premium version of their service.

I will reduce the image size under "we offer".

Thanks for your very pertinent suggestions.
