I'm pretty curious if anyone here has brought a product to market initiating with a crowdfunding campaign? If so can you please tell about the experience and possibly what you learned from it..

We were just funded on Kickstarter

I don't know if you need to "buy" anything to initiate a crowdfunding campaign. There's a wealth of free information.

This is one of the most followed:

Hacking Kickstarter: How to Raise $100,000 in 10 Days (Includes Successful Templates, E-mails, etc.)

We followed that to the letter. Yes, our numbers pale in comparison to "Soma" in the article. But our PR company bailed after the first week and we had to do it all ourselves. It's 30-40 days of chaos, but a lot of fun.

I've failed on four attempts. Learned something each time, but still can't get over the hump.

Next step for me is to take this webinar being taught by a higher up at Indigogo

Thanks for the link. My wife and I are finally (After 4 years of doing nothing) getting the ball rolling on an idea and we were considering using Kickstarter/Fundanything type fundraiser. The article gives a ton of great information. We're excited and scared all at the same time.

I was able to fund half of a project on IndieGoGo before.

          I needed 2K (for a short film/documentary style film)

and raised right around 1K. BUT...

$400 of that came from a personal friend that donated.

That's still some pretty incredible results. Be proud of those!

I am doing a similar funding gig for a new kidney. http://www.giveforward.com/fundraise...idney-for-tim/ It is going pretty slow. Not sure how the successful folks do it, will have to read that article on how they raised $100K, as I could sure use something like that. We have posted it to every Facebook page, asked everyone we know to do the same, yet stuck at just over $600.

The folks here at Warrior Forum have raised more than twice that in just over a week i think. And Jason is about ready to do a WSO to help.

$135,000 is a big goal, but I didn't set the amount I need for the operation.

I congratulate those that succeed though.

I've had a couple of small campaigns before on IndieGoGo and Kickstarter. They didn't go too well, but that was mainly because I wasn't used to promoting crowdfunding campaigns at all. If anyone is thinking of launching one, make sure the pitch is long, detailed and contains images and videos to make it look appealing.

I know this is older thread, but for anyone discovering it..

Advance PR, some more PR, and even more PR

It is critical to get off to a good start. We relied on a PR agency to get that all for us before we started. They failed big time, so we had to scuffle. We are still able to get funded, but it was 40 days of pure stress.

So line up the press releases, bloggers, influencers all before the campaign begins. That will get you off to a good start, and even grab more attention to your campaign.

And now I have successfully launched the beta version of my Etoot Social Shopping Marketplace
I'm not sure if that is exactly the best source, but it's an easier source than cold sources. It also depends on how much you are trying to raise. Friends and family will run out. I think of Ralph Kramden when he had trouble raising $200 for the Handy Housewife Helper

A good idea will be funded quickly. Bad idea will usually fail.

As long as you have something to offer that people will get excited about, you don't need too many details. Just put it out there, do a round of PR in your niche and see whether you were right or wrong.

Nobody is going to backup the type of crap (read: ebooks) that regular marketers are selling through landing pages or here on the forums (WSOs and chit).
