I have an electronic cigarette store with Shopify. I am considered a high risk merchant due to the nature of the product and have alot of trouble getting approved for a merchant services account with damn near anyone. I been referred to a merchant that goes by the name Durango-Direct and although they claim to not integrate directly with Shopify, I was told I could use Plug N Pay. Before I make a commitment, I would like to know if this is legit and if anyone has any experience with these two companies and could possibly provide some feedback. Thanks in advance I could really use the help.

They require me to pass on some very sensitive information regarding my bank account, social security # and etc. so I need to know they are legit.

I use Durango Direct Merchant Services due to the high risk nature of my business as well (sex toys). I was approved within a few days and haven't had a problem with them since. Work with Nathan! He is always very prompt with answering questions.

Check and see if they will integrate with Authorize.net which is kinda the standard for cart integrations. They integrate with everyone including shopify.

I also use Durango myself for a couple of eComm stores. If you use Big Commerce, they integrate directly, otherwise you can use Authorize.net for any other platform. I've been very happy with them and I like that I can aggregate all my eComm sites on one account.

    • Hello,
Durango Merchant Service's customer service team here. To answer some of the questions in this thread, we'd rather place a merchant on our own direct gateway, as we can provide better in-house support trouble-shooting transaction problems or declines, as opposed to sending you to Authorize.net's 800# for any trouble shooting.

However, we can setup accounts on Authorize.net if the situation calls for it. For example, Shopify is one of the only carts out of hundreds out there that we do not currently support, and some CRM's require Authorize.net integration.

The reason we had recommend VapeStore to utilize PlugnPay as the payment gateway (besides the Shopify integration), was that until Jan 2014, Authorize.net prohibited eCig merchants. They have since relaxed their policies, and so we can now board eCig merchants on Authorize.net (which is good for merchants who are using hosts/shopping carts such as GoDaddy or Shopify who have limited integration options).

Regardless, thanks for vouching for us HighRiskJohn & DressUpDown! We definitely appreciate that. If anyone else would like to verify the legitimacy of Durango, please review our A+ record on the BBB.

If anyone else has any questions, please submit a ticket to us directly, we do not actively monitor this forum so don't want to miss out on responding to you: Contact Us | Durango Direct

      Good luck out there Warriors!

I have not use Durango but I have heard about them and I would say from what I have heard they are legit.

I have setup many of my merchants with the Plug N Pay gateway. It works just as any other gateway does. You know they are just transmitting info from the cart to the processor.

It has a virtual terminal and is easy to administer. I have worked with most of the gateways out there and again most of them work the same. Main thing to be concerned about is the integration to whatever cart you are using. They need to be compatible.
