Buying an E-Commerce / Dropshipper site.

I was looking at getting into E-commerce / affiliate shop or drop shipping and was looking at buying a ready made site through E-bay or Flippa. I'd prefer affiliate as I'm presuming there is less work once set up.

Looking at the sites on E-bay and a few other sites if they are selling to you they are also selling the same thing to 100's of other people. So there will 100's of the same site all over the web. Surely thats a very bad thing isnt it ? I'm not gonna make anything through that. And it wont rank well with google because there are many the same. They are pretty cheap. I'm talking under $50 a site.

I'm thinking they are not worth it , what does everyone else think ?

Don't waste your money... those sellers just profit from unsuspecting buyers thinking they found a great deal when in truth all you are getting is a copy and pasted template that looks identical to tons of other sites that will never make money.

You will find the same thing on flippa from a lot of sellers. They basically sell the same site on a different domain over and over.

If you're serious about starting an eCommerce site you should either hire someone to do it for you or do it yourself with a platform that's easy to learn like Shopify or BigCommerce.

An affiliate storefront is way easier, since you don't have to deal with inventory or angry customers. Check out Fresh Store Builder and other Amazon affiliate scripts. There's some pretty sweet scripts out there these days.

I agree with the above comment. You can probably do better creating your own. That way you'll know how things work from start to finish.

      Thanks

I suppose i'm looking for the quick way in to get me started and setup. Once I have a small income rolling in then I can learn a bit more about how to do it properly. Suppose I just have to take the dive and create the content and learn now. I thought they looked like a bit of a con.

I have looked at fresh site builder. It looks good but again I cant help but think that all the sites might end up being the same. Is that not true though when using a script ?

Actually, you can use a script but make your websites look absolutely different. For example, for building Amazon affiliate websites I used previously associate-o-matic script. It's true that it does not offer great customization options, but I could always change logo, header and structure a little, so the sites were quite unique.

But now I prefer WordPress for ecommerce and affiliate websites, because it allows any customization I need. For Amazon or drop shipping sites I have created my own script for WP that works very well for me. Sample Natural Beauty World

I noticed you have a unique shipping policy on NBW. . . are you selling your own products via Amazon? Or is this an affiliate site? It looks great. . . thanks!

As the others have said, buying one of these cheap website will get you crap. Your better off sourcing a supplier in your chosen niche, and build a website yourself or have one designed.

I have looked at Fresh Store Builder and also Covert Store Builder. Has anyone used either ?. Covert store builder seems the better option for me but has two upsells apparently and is $47 but unlimited license. Fresh Store is $37 single site and $147 unlimited.

This would only be just to get me started. I have a couple adsense sites in the works but I dont want to mix Amazon + Adsense as I have read bad things. At least I would have a small income. Would it be feasible that one auto amazon site would be able to bring in $60 in a month ? That would cover hosting / domain and site builder.

I'm using fresh store builder on a site right now, it's not too bad for an affiliate platform, but a lot of people using it fail because they are using the inbuilt spinner (and they apparently have zero idea how to create real spun content). Personally, I use it to create the 'stores' but add unique content.

Ahh thats what I thought. If you have a ton of posts auto-posted by an autoblogger its not going to be original content so will be ranked down in google so no-one will ever see the page to earn you anything.

Original content is what's needed to rank. And ranking is whats needed to sell anything. I get it now.

If you go through with this by the way can you send me a message? Looking for more diverse progress threads in our community at eComLab, would be pretty awesome to have a little competition going between affiliate/dropship/wholesale!

I have some drop shipping sites. I haven't done any of the affiliate stuff yet, but I'm sure it has it's own set of challenges. You are right either way about the challenge of lots of other people selling the same thing. You have to do something with your site to differentiate it form the others.

I took the shotgun approach and just list everything on some of the marketplaces and then focus on what floats to the top and sells.

      Best of luck.

Remember Google seems to hate affiliate sites now - you'll find very few of them listed for ecommerce terms.

Unless you can afford PPC traffic for your affiliate site (and even then it can be hard to get affiliate sites approved) you are better off getting a shopping cart like Magento and taking the orders yourself and work with a good dropshipper

If you know how to drive traffic than competition shouldn't be a problem in your case. The question is how serious you are, do you really want to start from $50 site or custom order for better result.

You could try some affiliate (do not waste money on cloned flippa/ebay sites), you got tons of information right here on this forum, you just have to look for it.
