Hey,

What do you guys reckon is a good search volume a niche market should have, if you are a beginner setting up his first eCommerce shop? I've heard somewhere that it should be around 4000, but I think that sounds very low...

Totally depends if you're interested in the volume vs the relevance of that traffic—it's sort of like 'turnover being vanity and profit being sanity'. I would aim for relevant traffic over volume any day. How do you intend to drive the traffic to the site? Focus on the rate of conversion first—there simply isn't any point of boasting high traffic volume if none of that traffic buys from the site. Hope this helps jabburen! Good luck.

if there are a 1000 searches a month and your the only seller selling that product for $100 each - who cares!

You need weigh up demand and competition and your investment in time and money.

4000 searches is fine if you can make a decent margin on the product and it's not overly competitive.

I'd like to see 15,000+ for the high level keywords
