Is there a market for an online STORE???

Oh man it's already 5am I got to get to bed...

But just a quick post. I've started to realize I need to get serious about launching a site. The girl I know was saying I should do an online Store selling something and or products for some kind of industry?

She was explaining how she built the online store. If she gets an order she just fulfills it using a drop shipper. Is there actual money in that still? Also if I was to build the site what platform, or theme or template would I use? And what dropshipper??

If you know tell me how exactly.

The other thing is I was debating what kind of products to do? Like some kind of a "need" like disposable razors, or just some kind of luxury item or want??? What industries would be worth looking into?? Or what kind of products should I sell?

It just sucks cuz I built this online tool. It's not taking off like I had hoped. The stats show it's not going viral. I'm gonna leave running but I can't waste anymore time on it. I have to get something actually online and selling as I have no income. Now I'm just ticked off cuz I may have wasted the last 11 months building that darn tool that turned out to "nice" but not a hit. So I think I'm gonna have to start over.

So online store? Is that a good idea???

Good luck with that. You're asking a lot of questions that you could answer for yourself if you'd do some research.

You're thinking of stepping into an arena that is extremely competitive. What do you have to offer that Amazon doesn't?

I'm not trying to discourage you; just provide some food for thought.

I know that a lot of people use Terapeak to find out what's selling on Ebay. I can't really help you out with a drop shipper. I do know that the profit margins would be tiny. You need to do a lot of volume to make it profitable.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Putting up an online store gives you access to a bigger market. However, knowing how to sell or promote your product is something that you should focus on. Based on the questions that you asked, I can tell that you are inexperienced. If you want a successful online store, start by doing a research.

You're asking in the wrong way. First, there's an entire forum dedicated to ecommerce so obviously there's money to be made. So that was a dumb question. Then maybe click on a few posts and do some research. Every question you ask has multiple threads on it, on the first page. You seem to be asking for the magic blueprint as if you expect someone to make one post explaining how the entire business model works from A - Z.

I think there is money to be made, but you need very unique products. Building a store around the health niche would be quite difficult, but building a store for vintage card tables would be easier. I would bet there are a slew of opportunities, but I would expect to put a lot of research into the process before really investing in it.

There are but it may not work unless your selling unique products as you have sites like Amazon, Play etc all will beat your site unless its unique.

      Hi aceshigh888,

I've talked with the guy who runs this site quite a bit about online stores in the past:

Grabapple - The E-commerce Core Curriculum

His name is Dave Huckabee and he's a nice guy...very helpful. He's been selling products online for quite a while now so hopefully he can help you out with your decision to create an online store. He does sell a guide all about creating an e-commerce site if you decide to go that route.

      Hope this helps.
