Why are some Amazon products being sold by the brand only?

I was planning to sell cowboy boots on Amazon but after doing some research I realized that only brands were selling boots. For example, Tony Lama is the only seller of Tony Lama boots. Dan Post is the only seller of Dan Post boots. Does anybody know why there are no third parties selling boots? Is this an Amazon policy or a brand policy? Am I missing something?

Brand Policy. They want to control the third party panels to stop brand erosion. They don't have to worry about tracking MAP, they just restrict sales to either retail stores or websites. It is not uncommon for brands to restrict who and what can be sold on Amazon or eBay.

This is starting to happen more and more often. I know of companies here selling fancy dress products that are now stopping any of the companies they supply to from selling on Amazon and Ebay.

They figure they can do it just as well as you and make the extra margin themselves, plus they can protect their selling price.
