Hi Guys

Some of you may know me from my Offline posts, or my Design WSOs

I ran a small eCommerce store a while back when i first started IM and it was great fun but as i moved more into Consulting it kind of took a back seat

Recently i decided to start a online store that sells LA Brand clothing, and clothing that celebs wear

Site still needs a bit of tweaking but its here at Novae Apparel

I had the idea for this on the 10th of this Month and since then have got all suppliers sorted, got site up, had over 3,000 unique visitors and just under £1200 in revenue

would like some feedback aswell so

Loving it.

If anybody needs help setting up, or design wise etc don't hesitate to contact me on Maverick.Kai

Nice looking site - although I would test having such a large image taking up so much space on your homepage.

Would be worth testing a small image
and perhaps a strong headline making it easy to navigate to the various categories.

    £100 for a cap! wow

How much of your sales are coming from affiliate efforts or is it mostly from direct referral as a result of advertising or SEO?

None have been from referrals yet, purely just from tweeting myself and few shares on Facebook etc

    At £2800 now

    Very easy money

I'd love for you to lay out how you found your market that you are targeting? what research you did? and what's the best way to find suppliers for such luxury apparel? I really want to get a site set up but can't get past the first stage yet of finding what to sell as I want to stick with selling something for years into the future and not just ride trends. Could you give me some pointers? Love the site and congrats on your success. I'd love to be able to replicate some of your success.

Nice looking site for sure. I would put a phone number up there on the top right. It will increase your sales.

Great stuff. Starting an online clothing site as well different niche though. Curious on how you go about doing shipping, and returns etc. I was going to use PayPal but there are no sales final things there. I was also going to purchase the USPS plugin to make it more pro

Thanks for letting us pick your brain

    Hi guys

    Sorry for the slow reply

The idea for the market actually came from just browsing facebook, and i noticed a few "promoted" posts of a company that offers similiar clothing,

From there i decided to contact each of the brands said company sold aswell as a few i found myself through research etc

Surprisingly you will find that most designers on their site have a "Become a distributor" option, which once you've sent them your gameplan they will be more than happy to bring you on board and forward you their pricelists which is amended for you to make a profit

From there i got the site up, added products payment methods (I am using paypal purely because its easier for me)

Advertising way, i may have had a bit of a headstart than some of you as i have a fairly big following on all social networks which are actually based around MYSELF as a brand i did this purely because i launch numerous ventures throughout the year and by building a brand around myself whilst doing the networking for my companies

I can always put a "I just launched NovaeApparel.com use PL10OFF to get a special prelaunch order just for my friends on facebook!"

It makes people feel more exclusive in a sense and like they are getting in on something noone else is, which they are

Honestly i have not marketed this site as much as i should do, but its making a nice amount of money and once i've got more free time after this weekend i will be going full ahead with my marketing plan

This basically involves using Instagram as my main platform as people like pictures of clothing... ALLOT

I've actually had a few people PM me about having me set them their dropship site up, as i run a design agency aswell so have been pretty busy lately

I would get your strapline in the header, "LA brand clothing, and clothing that celebs wear". Actually, if you can, I would shorten it to "LA brand clothing the celebs wear" (if it still conveys the right message).

Great job, but I would include more contact details and social media links so people can feel a little safer buying. Best of luck!

Wow! That's a really good looking website. The only thing I'd change, IMHO, is to make the image on the homepage a little smaller.

    My general first impressions are:

    - A high-end boutique site that targets a very specific consumer group.
    - Prefessional design. I'd feel comfortable making a purchase.
    - Good product selection.

Keep at it. I can see a site like this doing very well.

No keep that image. As a fan of hip and and rap music and still part of your target market, that stuff works and is "new". All the big boys selling quality high end apparel are using it as well.

If you are getting sales which you are, time to implement a nice email marketing system and get people to opt-in. Setup some newsletters / autoresponders and you are on your way to 5gz a month easy!

All the best and thanks for sharing.

Funny, been here for three years as of two days from now and never posted. Lots of great value here... So, I'm always reading and reading... And implementing. Anyway, this is my first post. I'm psyched!

Just wanted to say that I think your website is great. I am just now dabbling into eCommerce area of business as I've been doing pretty well in my particular internet/info marketing niche for the past 6 years. It only made sense to go ahead and start getting into eCommerce--my niche lies deep within the interior design industry.

I think you did great with your choice of web design, etc. I think that is where I am struggling. I am looking for a design for items such as dinnerware and home decor.

I totally want to go for a website that is not self hosted. I'm looking at Shopify right now, but I've pretty much been a bit stuck. Any ideas on a recommended place to put my website? (ie: Shopify, Volusion???) I will certainly buy a premium template, but again, I don't want to host it myself. I'd rather pay out, in order to make most of the technical things under the hood go smoothly!

Again, your site is great. Best of luck to you!! It's awesome!

    Thanks for the comments guys,

Patrice, I am not too sure what to suggest tbh i always prefer to go with self hosting as i design most if not all my sites myself and i like the "freedom" i have with using a site host as opposed to a builder type site for my online shop

Thanks for the comments again guys, i've responded to everyones PM

    Hi Kai,
Nice website. since you are a web designer, i suggest that you take a look at your Big competitors websites in your niche and imitate their layout by using your own colors and design. i am sure that spent a lot monet and testing to have the layout design of their websites look like that.
At least, this is what i do when i want to create a site for me.
    Good Luck

Cmon man! How is this sustainable by you creating a few tweets / facebook posts?

I advise anyone looking at this to honestly assess the average ticket item he's selling, the income, and the amount of traffic you would need to close the gap towards reality.

If you "barely" did any work on this and you are making £3,650 (apparently not doing PPC or SEO, just organic posts to your followers?) then you have the hottest optin list of "friends" and "followers".

Are you really saying you got this sustainable, monthly income from posts on your personal social networking accounts, or is there more to this tale?

"hands free" - does that mean you are using an API to have orders sent to the dropshipper? If not, I would expect that an ecommerce store selling clothing would be the opposite of hands free!

I assume the supplier takes returns? We've found that "touchy feely" products (like clothes) have a pretty high return rate. Has that been an issue for you?

BTW, great looking site. I'd say in general it's too graphic-heavy for an ecommerce store, but with this being a "style" website, I think you are right on target! Nice work!

Also I'm guessing you're doing drop shipping.

How many different distributors are you working with?

$7.50 flat rate shipping to the USA or UK, I would think this would be tricking if you had more then one or two distributors drop shipping for you.
