Do you use email marketing for your eCommerce site?
Do you send special emails to your buyers with discount coupons, based on previous purchases or interest?
Do you see yourself using more automated email marketing in the next 1-2 years?
I am planning to create a really cool software for you.
Thanks in advance for answering!

I use email marketing, but my emails are ready-made by top earners in my company. On occasion I send out my own email, and I use the templates provided inside Get Response. Email marketing is very important and I will definitely be scaling up in the next couple of years.

      Who do you send emails?

Only to opt-in subscribers (who sometimes submitted your form and showed some interests in your product) or also to 3rd party lists (you got their email addresses in some in some other way)?

What level of response you get in both case?

Lists are not a great idea to send to using a email marketing service - the end result is likely you'll get your account banned or suspended by the provider if you get bad feedback.

I think lists can be good if you are individually emailing potential customers however.

3rd party lists are email addresses of people who opted in (not specifically to your mailing but emails from third parties, wherever they subscribed). If they are not opted in you are spamming and that is different.
Of course people might not remember if they left their email and did not read the small letter part, that their email might be transferred to a 3rd party for marketing purposes.

My company also offers "done for you traffic" - so you get a piece of the pie from the same traffic sources the top earners are using. My list is opt-in. My open and click rates depend on the email - 13.6 and 2.5 for one example.

@AwesomeCathy Thanks for the response. What does your company sell? How would you scale up? - the number of emails you send, or better segmenting resulting in more personalized messages and more content creation etc.
Is there an activity you would automate?

We sell internet marketing training and a blog platform with which SEO ranks can be raised and provide value-based content to drive people to the site, in addition to purchased traffic. I will scale up by purchasing additional traffic and perhaps a solo ad as well. I am also sending personalized emails in addition to the autoresponder, and re-sending unopened emails. I don't know that I would automate it other than perhaps hiring an assistant to write and send some of my personal emails.

The one thing I'd say - most Email Marketing companies are integrating with the likes of Shopify, BigCommerce etc so online retailers simply have to open an account and connect these services to their stores.

Your product probably needs to integrate with hosted carts if you're to gain traction with ecommerce folks - especially those who are on hosted platforms which is an increasing majority.

I do use these kinds of emails, but all is managed through my Magento CMS, or via Mailchimp. It's great to tie these two services together.

Yes any eCommerce store should be using email marketing. You'd be crazy not too. Let's put it another way Amazon use it for a reason - it works.

You need to follow up customers and prospects (separate lists) with quality content. There are loads of ways to do it (check out my link below if you're interested)

Done right email marketing is very very powerful.
