From a SEO stendpoint, does it make any difference to have a free ecommerce, such as Presta shop, or a paid service such as BigCommerce?
I find difficult to get organic traffic with my store. How should I go about getting more organic traffic? Divert it from a blog?

Not sure why it would make a difference? The only difference I can see is that if there were more options that allowed you to set specific page titles/keywords etc, however I doubt it would make THAT much of a difference.

Trouble getting traffic? Not uncommon Try and rank in the SERPs for your product keywords but you should definitely be on forums/blogs that are related to your products, and why not? If you are selling the products then you obviously KNOW about them and can help answer any questions/queries people may have.

Try to read reviews and look for any advertised features of the products that aid in SEO. There is nothing inherently more SEO friendly to paid ecommerce solutions over free ones.

Paid and free carts would not make a difference? maybe some provide you with more options...
I am maintaining a site for a while but i never really pay attention to SEO stuff... To my surprise, it rank 20-40K now.. We changed domain late last year and from 80K it goes down to 40K now..

I think you need to build lots of good backlinks... and build good reputation... Focus more on making your customer happy and create articles....
The site i am working has 6K plus backlinks because it is sellng software.. But if you are selling goods that might be a little difficult.

Not at all, the software you use is not the problem... the rules are the same for any kind of website... think that at the end all is HTML, you can have your website done in php, phyton, java, but what ill render on browsers and what google will see is pure html...
Try to focus on unique product descriptions and titles, write for humans and not for spiders and today more than ever try to lift some social signs, likes, +1, shares.. but al normal, don´t spam or buy services like 1000 likes for 1 buck as are just useless...

Go for wordpress. I use WooCommerce, as well as as premium and custom plugins. The best part is that you can usually start for almost nothing, and expand and optimize as you create income. Typically you can get Wordpress hosting with SSL for just a few dollars a month on average.

SEO-wise, it doesn't matter. What matters is how the site looks to the search engines / visitors - the content, titles etc. which are part of on page SEO. What goes internally doesn't matter.

Getting organic traffic isn't easy. Start SEO from basics - keyword analysis, on page SEO, link building etc. It takes time and efforts to build good organic traffic.

As others have said, the platform you are on will have very little effect. Assuming you have the basics in place (i.e. SEO-friendly URLs, meta titles, decent load times, etc.).

The most important factor for getting a relatively new, non-authority ecommerce store to rank well organically is content. The more useful, unique content you have on your indexed pages, the better you will rank (especially for long tail keyword phrases).

As a bonus, good content drives natural linking to your site and links from external websites will bring authority to your site (that helps you rank even better!).

In terms of SEO, the type of cart you're using really doesn't matter. It's the content that counts. (It's the content that's king!)

Attaching a blog to your site is definitely one of the best ideas you can have for yourself. You've got to make sure you're creating high-quality content, though. Once you've started doing this, get active in the online community that surrounds your niche. If you sell outdoor equipment, start commenting on popular blogs about outdoor activities, and begin to interact with industry thought-leaders. Show folks you've got something to say by actually saying it!

Hope this helps! You're more than welcome to PM me to talk a bit further.

It's not a case of paid vs free here—you still have to focus on optimising your listings for search engines, and it's hard work building up organic traffic. Plenty of good advice here but you need to put the time in to drive up your visitors. No magic bullet!
