Thinking of changing from woocomerce/wordpress to shopify....

I make a unique product that has had success, but our issue has always been selling it online. To be precise, we have had a few site issues that have been problematic and resulted in lost sales with Wordpress. Honestly the backend software for shopify seems amazing compared to the lack of a real backend management that woocomerce has.

Here is the site now - Rolex Rubber Watch Band Strap | Everest BandsEverest Bands

Also, we have spent a lot of time producing a strong seo platform of links and developed our social media. Any chance these two items will be affected by a switch? Currently we see about 175-300 clicks a day, obviously we do not want to loose that traffic.

Thanks guys,

Mike

Fantastic job creating a unique product for people that are known to spend money.

Social Media changes won't make a difference. If you have built a series of back links, you have to be careful to do 301 redirects to the new pages, you theoretically could have issues with broken links. Shopify gives you the ability to create 301 redirects. That being said, you could also match your page names up as well.

Your product is what Shopify was made for (IMO). A unique product with out loads of categories and subcategories that shopify does not do well. Obviously the blogging capabilities are not as strong as wordpress but you can always keep your blog on a subdomain if you wanted to and solve that issue.

Shopify's third party developers should give you a lot of functionality and tools to help grow your business, let you worry less about the technical side and give you great flexibility and scalability.

If you use their payment system (stripe whitelabel) they don't charge you the transaction fee. Feel free to take a look at the video reviews I have done. I just did a knew one and I have been impressed by the changes Shopify has made in the last year. It essentially solves most of the issues I had with Shopify before. Don't get me wrong, I love the platform, but it is not for everyone.

I would say do it. Whilst I think a self-hosted environment is a must at scale i.e many orders/customers, starting out with a hosted solution like Shopify is the best route. It means you can let them take care of the Technology side i.e hosting, payments etc to allow you to focus on the core aspects of running a store i.e merchandising, inventory, shipping, marketing etc.

Guys, thanks for the vote of confidence. After two years of selling online I am getting to that point where I need to make it easier on myself. Right now I spend about two hours a day shipping items. I know with a few software add-ons that could drop to 30 mins. I will keep you guys update - but honestly I may need a little advice/help with the 301 redirects. The suggestion on keeping page names identical may drastically reduce my pain with it - great suggestion.

wise decision .. you would not lose that traffic if the main domain name is ranking ..

best i can tell you put a big search bar on the middle on the site
and then you can tell visitor what searching for ..this is smoothly strategy on eCommerce site
btw alsomake sure u can tracking those searchin on your site .. ^.-
