Well...I took the plunge and contracted with a manufactor to produce my product. I'm using Amazon and got my approval today to sell.

I have a decent profit margin. The product costs me including the shipping to my door $2.55USD each. I will be selling at $12.99USD per item. Actually I have a butt load of product in my house right now.

Is that enough margin to use Amazon as a fulfillment center too? Or...do I need to stick with fulfilling and shipping the orders myself?

  • You should be fine. The pricing really starts getting bad when months in and out you aren't selling and taking up space in the warehouse

Item size is a factor. Even though it's fullfillment, I wouldn't recommend sending in hundreds of units if only 10 sell per month. Also, if 12.99 is the going price for Merchant Fullfilled, I would price it at a slightly higher cost as Prime members have no problems paying a small premium. You should also Merchant Fullfill the item yourself so that their are 2 comparible prices available for buyers.

Also, opt for multichannel fullfillment and sell em' on eBay too!

    I would imagine so - that's a good margin.

Have you used there Fulfilment by Amazon calculator?

Again until they start selling well just send Amazon a few units so you are not paying a fortune in warehouse space.

When you set your product up on Amazon make sure you use your important keywords in your title and description. Then go and get some reviews. Good reviews help increase sales and rank.
