Is it possible to find manufacturers that would agree to dropship products for you? Or only wholesalers provide such services?

You can do both. A few months ago I had some "expert" in another forum try to tell me that you can't drop ship from manufacturers, only wholesalers.

I guess that's why I currently do business with 16 of them, eh? But wait! That can't be done, right?

    Heavy sigh...

I also do business with wholesalers AND some of my competitors.

I'm a one man operation that works from home. Although I try to drop ship as much as possible, I also carry a certain amount of inventory as well. I do it because it makes sense.

I'm finishing up one last project and then I'll finally put the report together. I'll have it ready soon.

I would have to think many manufacturers would be happy to do this. Why? They can make more money! They make the cut the wholesaler gets, and it likely more than covers the processing of smaller orders. I think it might be easier to engage a manufacturer if you are local. Visit them and show them you are real. But clearly there is no rule that says you can't.

I many, many cases simply asking is all you need to do. Do a bit of research on the company, find who might be the right person and call them. This is not time for an email.

What if I am from Europe, but I want to find manufacturers in US and sell my items only in US? Should I call them then?

    Hello,

Yes for sure you can. Many manufacturers will directly dropship items.

I actually got the manufacturer to dropship for me for my first website. They were a HUGE rug company and they had a lot of wholesalers and retailers. However, I presented myself with my business entity when I spoke to them over the phone, depicted myself as a professional in the industry, and they were more than happy.

My point: do your research, know the niche and company, present yourself as professional and as part of a company (make it up if you need to or just go register a DBA for a few bucks) and give it a shot.

The worse you can do is a get a no.

It really depends on what you are planning on selling and from where to where. But yes, it is possible to find such companies as pointed out.

If you are thinking about a China based manufacturer - probably not.

Yes they do, they often have MOQ to weed out people that are not serious in doing business. However, if you give them a call they might just agree. If you're not confident in making a call, there's a few guys on Fiverr that do a good job.

    Naidy.

Most manufacturers won't dropship (for a lot of good reasons), and even if they did you're likely to get better pricing from a wholesaler that carries their brand. The wholesaler's cost per unit by buying directly in bulk is usually lower than what you would get with a manufacturer who agreed to dropship one-off's, and the wholesaler is more likely to have a system that's designed to accept your orders so you can automate the process. I'd suggest working with a wholesaler that already carries inventory and once you've established yourself and have predictable returns, then go to the manufacturer and see if you can get a better deal. You'll have more to bargain with by doing that than saying "hey, I want to start selling your products on a website".
