Fledgling eCommerce Sites

I plan on having a few eCommerce sites that market eBay products amongst various other affiliate programs within blog post links and a product page (no info products).

Any suggestions and tips as far as the success for such fledgling sites? Stories of your own success and learning curves are appreciated.

    Build one site at a time and prepare to devote a lot of time to it and make it your main focus. It is way to easy to start with multiple sites and not see any real results. Learning curve's differ with each persons back ground so It would be hard to say how long it will take you to make money.


    Stay away from buying a ton of WSO's or info products their is enough information on this forum to help you get going. Stay away from Alibaba, DH Gate and Doba by the time you purchase a product from these types of site's their will be very little to no profit to be made. Look at the posters in this section, you will find a few that are very helpful and seem to walk the talk. Good Luck in your endeavor

    I definitely agree with DWolfe. Especially for your first site, don't start off with more than one site at a time. Also, try and "learn" as much as you can with this first site. See which affiliates will work well, which ones won't, and just things in general that will help you succeed in the long run.

    Seriously, stay away from Doba (I've had personal, terrible experiences with them). They have catchy sales people that will try and make you feel like you're getting an amazing deal but their products have little no profit margins, their support sucks, and they won't refund you regardless of the crap they tell you when they're trying to get you to sign up.

      Since you're going to be creating what sounds like a lot of blog-related content, I'd advise making sure that your blog posts are of high quality.

      Again -- I'm only saying this because it sounds like blog posts will be one of the main ways that visitors can access your affiliate links...so you've got to make sure that your blog's content is relevant and of high quality.

      Not only will this help you out when it comes to things like search results...but it'll also put your store and your brand in a place of authority, making it easier for you to earn the trust (and dollars) of your potential customers.

        This sounds like it is more of an affiliate store then it is an e-commerce store. You will just be directing people people to eBay and other stores using affiliate links. If this is the case here is a few pointers.

        Start out with one idea, test and make changes as you learn.
        Learn about wordpress or other content management systems. I sometimes wish I would have learned Drupal first just for the flexibility but wordpress is great for just about anyone.
        Learn about driving traffic, researching keywords and adding lots of value. A "thin affiliate site" which just means a lot of links without adding much value won't be a good thing (IMO).
        Learn about niche's. Don't try and be another Amazon.com. We already have one of those, it's called Amazon.com .
        Spend the $50 and get a premium theme. For 35 bucks you can get elegant themes for a year. It will save you a lot of headaches.
        Don't load your site up with lots of plugins. It just slows things down.
