What Payment Gateway Do You Guys Reccomend?

I have been looking into all the different payment gateways and they all have their benefits but I cannot decide who to go with.

First, are there any out there that do not require a SSL or use a shared SSL to help save on the SSL certificate costs? (if you know of any low-cost SSL please share)

Second, what is the best option for a smaller website with under 100 sales per month? Should I look at the lowest rate or the lowest monthly rate?

Seems like they are the most popular, but the fees/monthly seems a little high. How is their support?

PayPal Express Checkout, customer can checkout without logging or create an account ( If you are Business )
No monthly fee, no need SSL required

If you would know the value of money, go and try to borrow some.

Using PayPal really isn't a good idea as your ONLY solution if you are doing real eccomerce. You need to accept credit cards ON your site.

I use Stripe for my sites as there is no need for a merchant account and all that jazz. The rates are normal for a payment gateway and they are simple so you know exactly what you pay for. No monthly fee. You do need an SSL cert but this is a small cost of doing business.

Personally, I use authorize.net and stripe and so far they have been pretty good I really don't have too many complaints. I really like stripes back end and it's super easy to process refunds and manage everything.

Authorize.net is always a good choice.. in terms of SSL I don't know where the expense is coming from.. an SSL cert is cheap.

I installed a RapidSSL this morning, so now I just need to get payment gateway setup. I am looking into Stripe but OpenCart doesn't seem to support them yet without a paid extension.

I looked into 2Checkout and they want me to break $300 before I can get my funds, which then takes 3-5 business days. How do they expect me to pay my supplier? I don't want to always be working off my capital investment.

  • Google Wallet is also fine -

But what are your terms with your supplier? Net 30? Are they expecting a payment upfront? What kind of terms did you negotiate? If you told them that your payment gateway transfers funds after a 300 dollar threshold, then I'm sure they'd be fine with it.
