Hi Everyone,

I am a complete newbie in E-commerce but got interested. SO I decided to research my niche (gifts and collectibles). I found a supplier in USA and decided to build my website on Opencart platform.

The website is not fully done. I still have to put in lots of products and update my pages, banners, products etc

But please provide your feedback from design perspective. What could/should be changed.

My site is
giftsncollectibles.com

I think it still needs a lot of work but I would like to launch as soon as possible.

With all due respect, it might be a bit too busy. From a design perspective simpler is better. Also I would get rid of the drop shadow on the text in your logo. You might check out the look and feel of your competition and emulate the best, here are a couple:

Gifts.com | Find The Perfect Gift - Every Time
    http://www.uncommongoods.com

Simple, clean, easy to read. Hope this helps.

You would require some professional web design. The background for example is not really nice to look at.

Are you familiar with Wordpress? There is free plugin called WooCommerce, which does an excellent job on turning your Wordpress into a full eCommoerce website.

This site needs A LOT of work.

You definitely need design help - either by hiring a good web designer or buying a more modern theme. Your site looks outdated.

Go to themeforest.net and take a look at the popular themes. That's what customers expect a modern site to look like.

The only payment option is COD? That's not acceptable. You need to accept Credit Cards and Paypal. Your content pages like About-Us etc are all blank.

People will not spend $$ on this site unless you make major changes.

Hopefully you won't let what may seem to be harsh comments keep you from going forward. Having worked with Open Cart I know you have put in a lot of time.

You might turn off some of the pages you don't need right away (affiliate, site map, newsletter, etc.).

You do need to have your privacy and terms & conditions filled out or else Google won't list the site. There are some free and paid generators on the internet.

As mentioned About Us is important but it can be fairly short. And you should have a clear return policy, you can get some good ideas from other sites. You might also consider matching your return policy with your suppliers. If they only offer 14 days you don't want to offer 30 and run the chance of getting caught in the middle.

    Best of luck.

Get rid of the background, make it simple. Also, make a static logo, too much animation
