Are you posting the same content everywhere? I wouldn't do that because duplicate content will hinder your efforts.

My suggestion is to post your main content on your blog or website, then create short, relevant content (two or three sentences or videos) on sites like twitter, g+, tumblr, youtube, slideshare, etc. that links to your main content. Make sure you're doing good keyword research too, especially for titles of all your content. Over time, your traffic will increase if you're producing quality, unique content that people in your niche are seeking.

The duplicate content myth is just that, a myth. The only way that duplicate content "can", not necessarily "will", affect your site is if you have large chunks of identical content on different pages or posts within the same site or blog.

I could show everyone multiple sites that are ranking well for specific keyword phrases that have simply copied and pasted the same content from the manufacturer's site. I can also show you manufacturer sites that have multiple instances of duplicate content within their internal pages. Would Google not rank a manufacturer of a specific brand because they have internal duplicate content? I guarantee they do it - a lot.

You can simply take your GOOD content, place it on your own site first, make sure it's indexed by the search engines and then share it freely with other websites, blogs and newsletters in your niche. This is called "article syndication". Make sure you use a resource box at the bottom of every article that includes a link back to your site.

You can also use social media, create YouTube videos from your content and much more. This is called "repurposing" your content.

Don't confuse "syndication" with "article directory" marketing. That's not very effective anymore, although you should still submit your articles there as well once you've syndicated it everywhere else you can.

You can learn more about this by doing a search (drop down box above) for "article syndication", "Alexa Smith" or both in the main forum.

You can also refer to the article syndication challenge that was done by member "brittlesnc" in the "Member Contests & Challenges" area. She's posted an outstanding case study there.

Finally, you can also learn a lot from the ebooks "Turn Words Into Traffic" by Jim and Dallas Edwards, as well as "Content Cash" by WF Moderator, Paul Myers.

  • You should be writing 100% unique articles, don't submit the same article just spun a bunch of times. some people might argue that spinning an article is fine but not in my book.
