Hi All,

I'm a new member of WarriorForum, although I've been reading and following threads for over a year...

A few months ago, I came across this nice thread that contains a lot of links to chinese websites that offer dropshipping.

I recently set up an account with eforchina.com, however their pics are all watermarked, and when I contacted a rep about getting unwatermarked pics for drop-shippers, she told me I had to deposit $500 in order to get that!

I don't want to deposit anything and I'm not supposed to do so anyway, it just defeats the purpose... I'm selling THEIR products afterall, why would these guys put sticks in the wheels like that??!

Stubborn Chinese as they've always been... Anyway, I'd like to ask you guys if you know where/how I can download unwatermarked pics for any given item. It's usually a certain link that gives you access to a ZIP file with the item's unwatermarked pics in it...

I appreciate any help.

The right way to get advice will be with a lawyer, not here.
Unless you get an answer from one of them.

Because they are protecting their business.

Every reputable dropship company or manufacturer I deal with gives me access to photos to promote and sell their products. I only deal with established U.S and European companies.

My suggestion is you might consider looking at other supplers.

      Good Luck.

        Thanks for the reply, lastreporter.

eforchina is not the only supplier I'm dealing with, but they got a good deal of stuff I would like to resell.

No problem. I understand. It's their loss that they have such a policy. It could be they use it as a barrier to eliminate the small players. Anyway, good luck!

            Hi jumbo1,

How can you make money when eforchina only give a dropshippers discount of 1.5% and they compete with you?

If you want a bigger discount you have to spend $1,000.

For that kind of money you can buy small quantities direct from the real manufacturers and get massive profit margins that will blow you away.

Sorry, you did have to address this post to jumbo1.

The way you do business is your prerogative.

While I understand your frustration, it's their photos and they can do what they want with them. Even if you're selling for them, how do they know your not just going to take the photos and run? Charging an upfront fee is for their protection.

Not sure how many products your selling, but if it's any more than a hundred than $500 is one hell of a bargain. Photography is not free and keep in mind that they probably spent a small fortune to get their images too. Doesn't give you the right to demand free un-watermarked images where they get no benefit and carry all the risk.

Thank you guys for your replies.

I started this dropshipping business recently. Just made my first sale yesterday.

Unlike eforchina, many dropshippers make their unwatermarked pictures available for their trade partners for free. Again, what I'm doing is helping them sell THEIR products.

"Running away" with the pictures is nonsense. Pictures alone are useless if you don't have the items at hand. And if you do have the items at hand, you can take your own pictures and u have no need for theirs. So it's all paradoxical.

Anyway, I would still appreciate if someone can give me a hint as to how to download their unwatermarked pics. I'm setting up like 50 products, and it's a pain in the a$$ to have to remove the watermark using Photoshop (which works quite well, but take unnecessary time).

      Thanks

Well, despite the fact that I both agree with your sentiment and think dealing with this outfit seems ill-advised (for a variety of reasons) my response to your original question is to simply use a contractor on oDesk or something similar. Get all the images and ask for a quote to remove the watermark. It likely won't be much.

The risk is yours in regards to copyright infringement issues.

Just realized that, when you place an order for an item, they give you a link to download this item's unwatermarked pictures...

It's a chicken and egg question. If they want to to sell their products can't they provide you with some tools? (i.e.images).. In my business I provide tools, banners and other images.

Now I'm no lawyer so take this as just "conversation".

In my experience most people when caught using someone else's pictures and the owner cares about it usually it's a smacked wrist by email and a Cease and Desist Notice. If you comply with that notice then 99% of the time you'll be ok because nobody really wants to go to court, especially if the person is in another country..

Some would just go to Google images and download the same or similar and some get away with it for years!

The choice is YOURS though and nothing I said should be taken as saying it's ok to do this..

    Did I say that? ;-)

I agree with lastreporter. Every supplier I ever worked with provided me with photos. They sent them to me constantly, especially when they were launching a new product or a whole new product line.

That doesn't sound like a company I would want to do business with. I would think about finding a new supplier.
