Live Chat feature..

Hey Guys,

I'm looking to an implement a nice live chat feature on my website for the legal industry. Basically they would be chatting to discuss a legal matter.

I would like to get a notification once someone enters the chat, that way I can have someone get on a PC and respond.

    It's free and they even have a smartphone app so you can manage chats while you're away from the computer.

    I've tried most of them and mylivechat.com is my current favorite. It auto sets me away properly when I am not at my desk which is one thing a lot of them don't get right.

    You've got a couple of choices really - go down the open source/developer route and implement your own. LiveZilla is a popular self-hosted client and works well.

    The other route is to use something like Olark, a really nice hosted live chat.

    Zopim and Olark are very good and can handle your notifications in a few ways. Be prepared to man the live chat feature if you're going to use it in realtime. If you're not sure if that's worth the effort, I would advise using it for a few weeks on, and then a few weeks off (thought still installed and useable so users can send you queries etc). Then it's a matter of seeing if being live during office hours made any real difference to your bottom line.

    I use Zopim for my e-commerce business and it's really jump-started our conversions.

    You can leave the chat open in the background and it dings when someone sends in a message. Emails you offline messages instantly as well.

        You can try using LiveAgent, which I also use. You get a notification once someone enters the chat as you wrote you want it in that way. It also auto sets you away when you are not at your desk. You might also use it on your mobile, because all mobile devices are supported.

    It's 100% and runs off of your server. I use it on all of my sites and it works great. It might not have all the fancy features that other chat softwares do, but for the price you can't complain. Later on if you find that having live chat really helps you convert then you can upgrade to a paid alternative.

    I would say that it depends on volume of chat. If you get more than 4-5 visitors at a time, Liveperson is best. And if you get only 1 - 2 visitors at a time then free version of Zopim is fine.     If you're a decent html or php developer, check out craftysyntax. It's open source (and free) and worked well for me. The best part is that you can play with the code and brand it with your own images, etc.

    Well, it seems great that you are moving towards on online marketing. There are so many chat app tools available on the internet, which is really helpful for you just like Olark, Live chat inc, pure chat etc.
