Why am I not making sales on Ebay?

I've listed these items like for 4 or 5 weeks now. I've revised and updated my keywords for my Ebay titles 8+ times, and I still can't make it to the first or second page on Cassini when the auction ends, nor can I make a profit.

If your not getting any traffic or bids on your auctions after this long I think you can only conclude that the issues are with the products you are selling and that they are not in demand

High supply means lower prices and low demand, correct?

So if I find 156 of the same items on Ebay searching for example a keyword like "kites", that means I shouldn't buy that item?

That means a high supply and low demand?

What I don't get is why do the brick and mortar stores that I buy my items at still sell lower demand items even at lower prices, if they know these items aren't likely to sell?

  • There is a lot that goes into eBay sales, for starters trying titling a little better.

Try using the free terapeak title builder (under apps) to pick keywords people are searching for on eBay. Come up with a title that will make people want to click through, don't keyword stuff your title that can confuse buyers.

eBay has the lowest amount of traffic of the year right now. This isn't good for auctions. You obviously get high conversion rates from auctions but you could have held it longer and likely sold it for $15 to the right buyer if you had priced it at that amount or at $20-$25 BIN and accepted offers for it - even if it took a month or two for that buyer to come along and find your listing.

One thing nobody has touched on is selling the product. Maybe I am wrong, but sometimes it helps if you sale it to the buyer in the description. Tell them why they need to own it, rather than just listing the item. Espescially with women, they are emotional creatures. Sales people recommend finding out what people are focused on in life. Give an item descriptiton that grabs on the emotional state of the buyer. Example - young women all want to look beautiful and slim. You could use the word "slimming" to describe a dress. You get the point.

Also, I have found that putting a stipulation, such as "sold out in stores" or "last one" on an in demand item helps.

Buyers on ebay basically are looking for deals on name brand things, simple as that. Walmart sells inexpensive items at a price point where they are actually losing money on the item. Why? Because they know that will bring you to the store and you will then proceed to buy the other items that are marked up, bringing them profit.

It might just be that your selling items people don't want...low demand.

  • I've looked at your items and you have a number of issues with your items.

The biggest issue is your reputation. You don't want to sell anything on eBay unless you have at least a feedback score of 10.

Without a feedback score of 10, you have a low probability of selling an item for a price you've RESEARCHED it would sell for.

With that mentioned, your predictions on the pricing and the format for your items is also erroneous.

A common mistake people make when they sell on eBay is that they assume they can choose the price an item can sell for. However, what you should ACTUALLY do is consult the eBay market on how much you can sell the item for.

From there, you should know exactly what price the item WILL sell for and what format will yield that price.

Then - from there you need to create your listings so you can exploit the views to actions ratio. This will help your listings rank higher than your competition.

A lot of people think: "If I lowered my price on my items, I can sell it faster." However, lowering the price on your items should NEVER be the strategy to increase your rank. "Increasing your RANK" should be the strategy employed. Why? Because prior to selling this item, you KNOW how much it WILL sell for and HOW it will sell (with the format)

Then, on the listings themselves, you can (with copywriting) convince your traffic not only to WANT the item, but also to WANT it from YOU!

Your listings need to be optimized for that, of course - but your main issue is the pre-research.

From there, we can talk about the optimization of listings for conversions.

  • Also - to the comment of eBay having the 'lowest traffic of the year'

Really, that won't have any sort of bearing on your listings whatsoever.

Plus, it's April that generally has the lowest traffic, and even then, it's the difference between 80 million and 87 million.

That is still a TON of traffic. (Source - compete.com)

If you do your recent research on the item itself, you will KNOW how the ITEM behaves to the EBAY market. You'll be safe.

eBay is still massively huge, and a calendar date doesn't tell you how your listing will do. The difference is so nominal it's barely worth noting, or noticing.

Data and numbers make decisions - and items behave based on formats and pricing. Not calendar dates.

your feedback rating needs to be improved,
your starting price needs to be lowered to encourage people to bid
the description all needs improving and change the size of your text to something a lot smaller and a lot less colourful

I'd also change the listing time from 7 days to 3 or 5 days and ensure that you list your items around 7pm-9pm

it would also be a good idea to ensure that you have relevant keywords in your title so that people searching your item can actually find it

    hope all those tips help

What day of the week, and what time of day, are you listing your items? I have found that makes a humongous difference on eBay! In my experience, the best time to start a listing is around 5:00 PM ET and run it for 7 days. This seems to bring the most exposure and highest final sale amounts in my eBay niche (mobile devices).

another thing that you can try is to ensure that your item is priced competitvely, it is not a good idea to change your pricing too often as it can effect the ebay best match ranking. another good idea is to use buy now with the best offer option

Your keywords and use in the titles are killing you..empty spaces - dashes, non searched terms etc....spend some time on this aspect and make sure that your text is keyword friendly and readable... ,finally optimize your images..this will all make a difference
