My plan is to order some items from Alibaba and sell them on Amazon but first I need to know if it is possible to sell the items on Amazon. From what I know to sell on Amazon you need a barcode or UPC but I have never bought off of Alibaba and am not sure if their products have a barcode. Have any of you ever bought anything from Alibaba and sold on Amazon? Do the items on Alibaba have UPC?
#alibaba #amazon #upc

Never experienced any issues with having to enter bar code etc. Also, be careful when ordering from Alibaba. There are lots of scams going on.

Yes, but that is only one of the reasons why I never recommend that people look on Alibaba or the other big, popular sourcing sites.

One thing that most of them have in common is that their verification process is a joke. All it does is prove that the business actually exists.

You probably think you are safe dealing with premium suppliers such as Gold Suppliers, but the only difference is that they have paid money to buy that status in order to make gullible buyers think that they are more reliable.

For some more information, I suggest you have a look at the thread Sourcing Manufacturers There are only 10 posts on it so it won't take you long to read right through it.

Agreed! Alibaba focus on international buyers, while domestic platforms are only available in native language. I trusted more domestic online shopping site due their buyers are from local, if something went wrong they can file a lawsuit while overseas buyers can't

I just started in this field and I am a novice but I used Alibaba to order my products and everything went smooth as silk but I did my diligence. Ordering from any manufacturer/distributor, whether its here or abroad, can be a risk. The best thing to do is research. If you are set on using channels such as alibaba, aliexpress, ect, you need to do your research. It took me almost 3 weeks to weed out suppliers before I even considered purchasing anything from China.

As for your upc, if the product/brand you want to sell is already listed on amazon, you can piggy back on the brands existing upc's. If you are taking the private label route and branding your own products, you will need a upc for each and every product and product variation (size, color, options, ect.) you want to sell on amazon.

You have been lucky Luke, but you may not have found a genuine manufacturer and that is where you will get the best prices.

I agree that careful research and due diligence is necessary, but why give yourself extra work to weed out suppliers by using sites where there are large numbers of unreliable suppliers? There are safe sites where proper verification procedures are used and if someone advertises as a manufacturer, you can be sure that they are not traders pretending to be manufacturers.

If buying overseas there is no point in dealing with anyone other than the actual manufacturer because the wholesalers, traders, agents, or distributors buy from the manufacturers and add big margins. You can buy direct and pocket those big margins for yourself.

Read this short quote from a post by one of my students: "I have contacted some manufacturers already (from links he supplies) and I am just shocked at the low prices they offer for products I am researching. Forget Alibaba, Global Resource, whatever. The Ebook shows you where to find manufacturers, how to verify their credibility etc."

Exactly my situation, i am selling wooden phone cases on Amazon and as i first started i was also wondering if the items that i buy from China will have upc codes on them. It turned out -not surprisingly- they have nothing on them. Probably your items will also not have upc codes on them, and even they have any barcodes, i would firstly check if the code is already used (simply search in amazon with the code). I end up buying upc codes. After testing a couple of vendors and having some issues with some big vendors i use now ean-upc-codes.com.

Can you help me understand more in detail how this works? Do you have to manually slap each code on each product? Or just in the amazon backend somewhere you assign codes to your products?
I want to use amazon for the fulfilment so I am just wondering, I never come in touch with the product so physically putting codes on each product would be a challenge.
      Thank you

What kind of items are you selling on on Amazon? It is hard to say whether or not the items on Alibaba have barcodes. Maybe it is a good ideal to ask your supplier first before you make your order.

Why do you contact with Alibaba's saleman? You can buy some samples and request the items you ordered must have barcode.
