It depends on which Chinese dropshipper. If you advertise to your customers that your products are genuine, and then they received fake goods, your customers could complain and it could affect your business' reputation. I recommend you to order to your own home first, and then verify if the items you bought are indeed authentic, especially if it's a Nike.

Let's be honest, China is the powerhouse of counterfeit goods. However, not all of them are. Just try to do some research on it. Any reviews from past customers on this dropship site?

I also want to add that dropshipping from China to another country, like to the US could create some pain for your customers in terms of the delivery time.

If it was a US dropshipper, it would be okay.

What I did was to instead buy a HUGE box of items from China or other foreign countries (Also, when you buy more, you get a more better wholesale price) and then store it in a fulfillment centre that is in the country where your customers are.

So, instead of letting your customers waiting for 2-3 weeks for the delivery, they can wait for like 1-3 days.

Selling Nike knockoffs is EXTREMELY risky and illegal in many countries.

It is not only Nike brand that can get you into trouble. It is a criminal offense to sell counterfeits of any brand.

JMWant, like most Chinese dropship suppliers can't offer genuine ex-factory prices, they only offer wholesale prices AND they compete with their own customers just like most of their Chinese competitors do.

Dropshipping is highly popular as a business model, but in my opinion that is only because the average reseller does not know that they can buy small quantities direct from the manufacturer at genuine ex-factory prices. By buying a small inventory they can take control of their own business and not be at the mercy of a dropship supplier.

They can also enjoy massive profit margins by buying where the dropship wholesalers buy instead of slaving away trying to make money at the pathetic margins dropship suppliers allow them.

It all comes down to finding good manufacturers to work with. Unfortunately most people don't find them because they look on the popular sourcing sites where the overwhelming majority of suppliers are wholesalers or traders pretending to be manufacturers.

I have launched hundreds of small entrepreneurs into the high profit world of direct importing and none of them will ever again contemplate dropshipping.

My suggestion is if you are selling aything to your website, tell honestly what type of goods they are buying buy you whether original or a copy/fake. But if I were you, I would not focus on branded items, I'll be more focusing on unbranded products that sells well.

Suppliers will often tell you that the product is genuine when it is in fact a fake, BUT......

It possibly is a genuine item if they have bought it on the black market in China, where manufacturers who are licensed to produce the genuine article, (or their employees) will sometimes remove products that don't pass the brand owner's strict quality control, and sell them retail at low prices.

In either case it is illegal to import or sell them in western countries where IP rights are honoured.

Your suggestion about concentrating on unbranded items is a good one. There are thousands of people who make an honest living that way. I have taught hundreds how to safely source and import direct from manufacturers.

Another great way to start Dropshipping online is to sell on Ebay using Amazon as your supplier.

This way you know that everything your selling is coming from a trusted supplier and you'll be selling products which are popular anyway.

In addition, you'll be able to sell a whole range of everyday items and thus avoid the risks involved in finding a niche.
