Question For Experienced USPS Package Shippers..

As we know, for some stupid reason you cannot purchase First Class postages on the USPS.com website.

However on Paypal you can, but it doesn't appear to be a way to print 2 labels per page like you can when you purchase a Priority Mail postage on USPS.com. And since I am currently using a standard printer with 2 adhesive labels per page, it's a waste only being able to print a single label per page (especially when shipping a lot of packages).

So is my only efficient option is to invest in a good label printer?

Any thoughts, ideas and info would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can use the remaining label when you only print 1 side. Just put it in the printer backwards. This works any time you print a single label or an odd # of labels.

A label printer is a good option when your volume picks up.

Yeah that's what I very recently just started doing. But it's begun to get tedious very quickly.

My volume is picking up, and I have been thinking about the money I could save over time (such as paper/ink) by just getting a label printer than using my regular printer.

My inkjet printer cartridges are about $30 each for a color and black/white (and yes that's online price) and my laser printer toner is about $50. So I'm thinking a Zebra label printer may be what I need.

If any other suggestions out there, or suggestions on brands I would appreciate it.

We use the Dymo Labelwriter 4XL. Its thermal so never needs ink or toner and generic labels are very cheap. Zebra is also good but pricey and sometimes has compatibility issues with certain software.

Before you buy a label printer make sure its compatible with your software.

The dymo 4xl should meet your needs or also the dymo 450. One good tip is to always check out the staples store or staples online because they go on sale a lot. The one I bought usually sells for 130 but I ended up getting it for 40 dollars

Sort of related, but I use ShipStation.com manage my shipping...I get better rates than USPS direct. There is a $15 monthly fee; so I guess you need a certain volume of orders to justify it, but if you are, then it is totally a life saver.

Yeah but Paypal is free and offers the lowest possible rates that I've ever seen on First Class postages. And they also include free delivery confirmation (tracking).

Thanks for the suggestion, but it seems places like ShipStation.com Stamps.com are for people who want their postages branded with their company logo, name etc. Which is actually not bad for the price, but not what I'm looking for exactly.
