Custom shopping cart or premade script?

I'm creating an electronics resale business (mostly notebooks and phones), and I'm working on the website for it now.

I've got my fancy 5-character domain, I've got my general business plan, now I'm just working on actually making the site.

Do you think it's better to code from scratch, or to use one of the many premade shopping carts? Generally speaking, do people respond better to a familiar cart interface, or are they more impressed by a custom made site? Does anyone really care as long as the price is right?

    wait what?

are people allowed to do that here, just blatantly advertise their website wherever it fits the topic?

Moderated: Nope, that's why the post was deleted.

If I were to just buy clicks, I'd have better ways of doing it than simply getting FB and google ads. I mean I guess they're kind of alright when the free vouchers come around.

To the OP - the answer is NO- don't write your own shopping cart. There are dozens of awesome shopping carts that are either free or low cost.

Unless you have a team of developers on the payroll or very unusual requirements then there is no need to write a shopping cart.
