Outsourcing an Email?

I hate writings! thats why I need to outsource so that my email marketing will have a daily newsletter to my customers. How much should I pay for a freelancer (preferrably ODESK) for just 1 email? or any suggestion how to outsource?

I don't know, Jonathan, but I'm intrigued how "just 1 email" is going to be helpful to you - though that's none of my business. The last emails I wrote for a customer (back in 2008) were $80 each, but that wasn't a "single email" (and I don't still do them).

"Someone who specialises in email writing" might be a good start? This guy does excellent emails (I've seen some of his, myself): Email Writing Services | Emails that make your subscribers ignore your competition and buy only from you, again and again

    Hi there,

There are numerous courses to help you with writing too - might be an idea to invest in one to make you a better writer. That will cut your overheads. As Alexa says you can outsource - but it is very costly to get a series done for you.

Perhaps look at PLR too? You will probably have to correct some of the language in them but it can be a good source to get your started.

Check iwriter.com. They mainly focus on ebooks and articles, but you might be able to find someone to write emails for you. Also check fiverr.com. There people may not know about your product so you might have to figure out how to get it to work. I would get them to write something you liked, and then you can edit it, which is a lot better than writing it yourself. Iwriter also has an affiliate program if you wish to promote that.

You should be sending out several emails so you will need more than just one. It will probably be expensive if you send new ones out at a decent rate, so you might also want to just practice doing it yourself if you dont have a lot of money to spend.

Exactly the approach to avoid, in my opinion.

The one thing you want to make sure of, if outsourcing email-writing, is that the service-provider you go to specialises in writing emails. It's a whole different skill-set.

      Hey Jonathan,
I am going to be blunt with you........I implore you to not do this with your Email Follow ups and Broadcasts.

      Just don't !

Many, and I mean many highly successfully email marketers do not like writing ,but they know how damn important it is to put their "Own take" and own "signature" on things when communicating thru emails to Subs.

It is soooo important that you obtain the discipline to do this on your own.

Your personality cannot (for the most part ) be communicated EFFECTIVELY through a third party.

This is a long term business so you need to realize that you are going to have to put some long term work into it.

I challenge you for the next couple of months to write 30 really engaging follow ups in your Newsletter.

After that point of time, you can start the 'recycle' process and things will become much easier.

But just put in the sweat right now.

Your personality demonstrated in your emails is where your Money will be generated !

      Best of luck !

I appreciate all the suggestions and recommendations you all have said. $80 for 1 email is too much for me maybe I just have to try and learn writing emails for now.

      Let me ask you this...

Do you enjoy having conversations with people you share an interest in a topic with?

      How about with one person?

Instead of worrying about "writing", just make a daily newsletter an ongoing conversation with someone about your topic. You'll automatically communicate in your own 'voice' and style, which will evolve with practice.

It's much easier than "Writing Emails".

There are writers out there with the talent to write in your voice, but it sounds like they are way beyond your current budget.

Good post. I think you should have to think about more than 10000 Email. So you can compare some good result. And pay 80$ to 100$ for 1000 mail.

On Elance, I think you can find a good writer at much reasonable price. I think you will get a decent writer who can write 5 emails for you for $200. Try that too, there are many good writers there.

  • Well all I can say has already been said and that is "If you want quality work, you have to pay for it." There are a lot of good writers out there and in Odesk too, you just have to take the time to review them. Good luck!!

I always like to to do mathematically. Firstly would you say each subscriber is worth $1? in your niche. If so I believe it should be done like this

Look at your past emails, whats the open-rate? you should than give him a percent of the open rate i.e if 100 people open and you say each worth $1 than give him 5% which is $5. Take an average of last 5 open rates email and base your math on that.

    Does that make sense?

Sorry, but it makes no sense at all.

If the email series you buy isn't going to do any better than what you have now (your assumption), what's the point in changing? If you're going to hire it done, hire it done right and take that $1 and turn it into $3-$5, over and over again.

And which musty crevasse did you pull that 5% number out of?

Many top-notch copywriters command a fairly large fee PLUS a royalty on each sale.

Email is a different beast than writing articles.

If you're main objective is just to give them something to read, then don't outsource.

However, if you're goal is to increase engagement or to sell something later on, you might benefit from getting it done by someone who knows what their doing.

As for the rates, I'm no expert on this but in my case I always ask clients for $25 to $30 per email copy (at least 800 words) and I do it per bulk which is a minimum of 10 orders.

    Why bulk?

Emails don't work alone. That's why it's called a series or a sequence because each email should add to the value of the previous and so on...

So look for something in the $25 to $40 range if you can afford it. A decent one would at least ask that much.

Writing is easy. But writing pieces that move people are on a different level.

you may be able to get someone at lower rates on ODESK. Some excellent writers are willing to work at lower wages there due to the competition. Ask for samples, perhaps you find someone.
