So do you guys feel okay if for say someone who has a lot of Internet Marketing knowledge to build a email list in the IM niche, but hasn't made much money yet at all?

Doesn't add up if you asked me. That just tells me the person has a lot of theory and not much experience or success to back it up.

Internet Marketing is an abstract term. So maybe this guy is a great blogger or he is an Affiliate Marketing Guru, but at the same time he knows nothing about email marketing

I think it's extremely inadvisable. For most people, most of the time.

It's one of the commonest mistakes that aspiring marketers make, and one of the biggest reasons underlying their common failures.

The one thing of which such a marketer would be making quite sure is that s/he would be competing for the same traffic against some of the world's most experienced, most successful, best-funded marketers. Who's really going to win that competition?

"I've tried quite a few other things and I still haven't really earned any money from them, so I'll try IM-related niches because there are always thousands of people stuggling, just like I am"?! Sounds to me like a pretty good way to stack the deck firmly against yourself?

People doing this are, naturally enough, a big part of the reason why the overall success-rates in IM are so low.

Alexa, I really love your comments. To carry this out one
step further - what would you do to "Stack the Deck" in your favor?

Back when I lived near a race track, I spent a lot of my days off playing the horses.

Over time, I became very good at picking horses. My best day was 10 winners out of 12 races.

But I never got a big payday betting the horses. Why?

I was a lousy bettor. My money management was horrible. I usually made enough to pay for my day and get me in the gate the next time, and I had a heck of a lot of fun.

Could I have taught my handicapping method? Sure.

Could I have taught my betting strategy? No way.

You might be in a similar position. Maybe you're good at writing blog posts that get shared, but your product selection sucks. Teach people how to write blog posts that get shared, but don't try to teach them how to pick products.

In other words, stick to topics you know you're good at, as opposed to topics you simply think you know a lot about. After all, it isn't usually the stuff you don't know that sinks you. It's the stuff you are dead certain of, but is absolutely wrong, that kills you.

Sorry y'all for the late reply! Just wondering because I was taught one person how to make money in that market. But however I am focused in the weight loss niche. I am focused on starting on a list, but I am going to start finding solo ad vendors for my niche soon. I also know how to make money with google and affiliate websites thanks to Forever Affiliate by Andrew Hansen.

I guess its fact many people trying to make money online but not really success to reach their goals which is generate big income. Most of us are following gurus steps but however we need to back it up by test, probably our biggest mistake is lack or action and test. Just believing what most gurus says might be not enough to justify what you will gonna achieve. IM niche is very competitive and maybe you need a lot of work before you could earn big. Probably the best I could suggest is to focus on what you good at and slowly improve your technique to become better IMs of cos.
