Affiliate marketing follow up sequence

Hi all,

I have a question about the follow up email sequence when you're promoting other people products. Do you set up value emails in your autoresponder to build trust then offer products to your list via a broadcast email? Or do you include specific products in the follow up?

Let me know what has worked for you. My problem with products in the follow up is that they may close or change resulting in lost revenue.

I don't. For all these reasons.

    I do.

I send email (in every niche in which I do business) on days 1, 3, 6, 10 and 15, and thereafter at 5-day intervals, with a product-recommendation typically occupying the second half of every third email.

I also do all this stuff, which works well for me (that's an understatement : I wouldn't have any income worth talking about, probably, without doing all that!).

And this, in order to achieve and maintain high open-rates for the emails (also kind of a "bare essential"!).

Yup. Exactly right. You have to keep an eye on that always (so it isn't ever really "passive income", either way round, is it?). But it's still far better and far more convenient to do that than to send broadcasts, for all the reasons explained in the first link above. For me, anyway.

The best thing you can do is know exactly what your niche needs. Than you can be the "Go To" guy to cover their needs meaning you provide value and gain their trust, and recommend products that you really believe can help them. If you add no value to your subscribers the unsubscribes will go up and your open rates will go down.

    Hi,

I have two lists - a freebie list and a buyer list.

For the freebie list, I have a 28-day follow up sequence in which I sell my own products as well as have clickbanking links. The emails go out daily.

For the buyers list I have a 7-day follow up with some value building and freebie giveaways to strengthen the relationship. After that time, I do broadcasts with affiliate offers and occasionally a freebie.

    I hope this helps!

    Hey Tockolke,
I think doing a combination of Broadcasts and Follow Ups can be advantageous.Actually, I will take it one step further and say that it really must be a necessary part of your Marketing Strategy.

First, I concentrate at the beginning on doing Follow Ups . ONLY !!

30 Straight Follow Up every other day when Subs partake in my E Course. That is a total of 60 days.

Then after that, 3 times a week Follow Ups.

At this point of time, I will start sending Broadcasts twice every week.

The reason I believe Broadcasts are vital ( and it has taken me some time to really see this ) is this : Say you are in the Weight Loss niche. And all of the sudden the FDA comes out one day and says " hey we have approved this new weight loss product that is both safe and very effective "

Okay to me, you are doing your List a TOTAL 'MISSERVICE ' if you sit there and are so bent on just relying on your Follow Ups to do the work. No, you need to use Broadcasts to send to your List this timely information on this newly approved Product. One that can help them and one that can also put some money in your pocket.

Sorry, I have come around through my own testing of this and have come to the conclusion if you do not implement Broadcasts ( along with concentrating on your Follow Ups) then you are leaving money on the table and you are NOT optimizing the relationship you have with your List ( i.e keeping them up to date with current events ,current issues, and new products that have come to Market )

Sending Broadcasts ( along with the Follow Ups which is the backbone of your email business) is ESSENTIAL when Marketing in an ever evolving and dynamic Global economy !!

Provide value in emails, that builds trust.

You can: add aff links in the email with good content, at the end put a P.S. btw ... check out affl link... means you can practically put your aff link in almost every email (but don't put it in every one).

Create a follow up after say the fifth one to talk specifically about the aff product and then put your link. If you purchased it you can talk about your experience, or the benefits it has etc.

The follow up can also talks about a problem, gives partial ways to solve it (e.g. how to do it manually) then suggest the affiliate product as the top notch solution for the problem.

So try to make 70% of the emails valuable (maybe some with P.S. tactic), and 30% you can write specifically to promote the affiliate product. Because if you're always mentioning the affiliate product it becomes frankly boring and looks like plain advertising - you want to make it appear as the solution they need to have to solve their problem.

I would not recommend that you add the same offer into your sequence that spans for a few months of automatic follow up. You never know when that offer will close. If you are going to have lots of emails in your follow up sequence, you can add something like:

    youwebsite.com/offer1.html

That way, if the offer is taken down, you just need to edit the link above to go to a new offer.

Yes, you can sell in your follow up series.

You can also use it in another way.

Email is for COMMUNICATION. The purpose of it is to make you subscriber CLICK the link and redirect to a page to sell them.

It seems advisable to select high quality affiliate offers that will stand the test of time. This would solve your main problem that you shared.

I would definitely stick to specific offers and be descriptive within your follow up emails. You don't want to sound too generic!

First build a relationship with your list. Thats makes everythingggg else easier.

Genuinely help them without giving away all your secrets and you'll have them hooked. Try sending out a couple of emails providing value, and then one or two promoting a product you really feel will help them.

You should get a good amount of sales that way.
