Solo Ads Just Exchanging Customers

I don't know much about solo ads, but wouldn't using them simply be just exchanging a customer base between people. Wouldn't that mean that tons of other people will probably have the same subscribers and that the possible subscriber base you could have would be limited? Since everyone is just getting their subscribers from a previous person, there would be no new subscribers outside of that initial subscriber base.

It's true that it's a fact that any subscriber you get via a solo ad is on at least one other list.

But solo ad sellers collect their subscribers from all sorts of places...

You end up with subscribers who are probably on at least a few other lists, and it's going to be more difficult to engage them than if they joined from your website.

The advantage - you'll build your list far more quickly...

    Your call...

Yes you definitely get List dilution. Some more than others.

Solo Ads can be a numbers game. You look at the percentages and try to build your List up pretty quickly.

But the quality is relatively poor even though you can still generate a substantial income if done right.

Not 1 list. I think between 10-30 different lists.

just to ad to that, if you have a list where you do not want to build a relationship with your list. then swaps might be ok. churn and burn.

Yeah it all depends upon your business model.

There's no doubt that solo ads and swaps can churn out low quality leads. But... What would happen if you treated them better than 90% of the other "gurus" they interact with?

Or... What would happen if you just churned and burned, but knew your numbers better than 90% of your competitors? What if your funnel was 90% better than everyone else's?

I guess it depends what your goals + intentions are?

Are you a raw dog "by the numbers" type, or are you more artistic + into relationship building?

Or maybe a mixture of both? :]

Just my honest two cents. (I'm sure somebody will argue with me. But I won't argue back. Not my style).

Very well put. These days it's actually very easy to stand out of the crowd, because most people are doing the same thing.

I don't see how it can be a bad thing if people are on 30 lists (and especially solo ad sellers lists, that's awesome if they are subscribed to those!), makes it very easy to position yourself above all of them if you're a little creative and think outside the box.

You always have to thoroughly evaluate each solo ad seller. Some vendors pound their list with offers everyday and have no respect for their subscribers. If a solo ad vendor makes their living off of selling "solo ads" more than likely it's not going to be quality traffic. Solo ad vendors that treat their list with respect and offer value will be more picky about what offer they promote to their subscribers. There are a lot of variables when buying solo ads, such as how well your funnel converts, where the traffic is coming from, and if their are buyers included.

This is true that's why it's good to mix up your traffic sources.

I doubt normal person sits on 10-30 lists, more like on 3-5 lists maximum.

Normal people do not like spam, no do they try to get on lists and see what other industry guru do.

Normal person are likely signed up for couple lists related to his/her hobby/niche that he is really likes. And as any normal person out there, once they find somebody who seems to be more authority and more expert on a subject they drop out from old list.

It is of course depend likely on niche as well, but I am having hard time seeing somebody who like yoga being signed to 10+ different lists.

Pretty much covered the bases ... I agree with Sarevok the most because List Building is a must for online success. It gives you your most precious asset and with multiple ways of targeting your list, not just email, it gives you a consistent base to spread your message.
I am speaking about cultivating a relationship and helping those connecting with you along the way.
There is an abundance of people and more everyday looking for more information in whatever niche you are in.
