Tier 1, 2, 3 etc is there a definitive list?

I see a lot mentioned about tier 1, 2, countries etc. for subscribers Is there a definitive list of the different tier countries. The information I have seen seems kind of fuzzy.

  • 1st tier countries, is a first class countries with good economics, and in which people have money to spend.

    Just look up for the list of first class countries, then narrow it to the language your emails will be, and you got your 1st tier countries list.

    There can't possibly be a "universal"/"definitive" one, because the classification of subscriber-groups into location-based "tiers" depends so heavily on the marketing purposes and motivations of the businesses of the people doing the "classification".

    For some, for example, language will be a key component. For others, widespread credit-card possession will be absolutely essential. For others, cultural considerations and attitudes, income-ranges and many other demographic considerations will determine the relative values of subscribers from different locations/regions.

    Same here. It has to be, I think, given the inherent subjectivity and variability of the significance of such classifications.
